The Registered Dietitian provides direct nutrition care activities such as assessment, care planning, documentation and other types of nutrition intervention for residents.

Maintains responsibility for clinical services, regulatory compliance, nutrition records and staff nutrition education. Is a resource to other team members in all aspects of food service management.

Operational Execution

  • Completes nutrition care activities in healthcare areas in a timely and accurate manner, including nutrition assessment, care planning, progress updates and medical record documentation.
  • Responsible for clinical services and clinical outcomes conducted by any type of self, company, state, and/or federal audit
  • Serves as nutrition resource to other healthcare staff members and physicians. Interacts with other departments in problem solving, training and policy development activities as related to nutrition and dining services.
  • Reviews systems for diet with the Director of Dining Services records, nourishments, supplements and nursing unit supplies.
  • Maintains confidentiality of resident and staff records.
  • Assists in menu development, therapeutic extensions and adaptation to healthcare residents' needs when required to.
  • Monitors all aspects of department service for regulatory compliance.
  • Participates in the development and presentation of nutrition classes, displays, inservices and programs for staff, residents and the community.
  • Assists in management in other areas of the department as necessary. Performs tasks of the Director in his/her absence as needed.
  • May participate in special events, ordering, supervising of staff as assigned.
  • Provides regular visitation report summaries to the administrator and Director.
  • Attends required department director meetings, training sessions and facility meetings as required.

Qualifications

  • Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Licensed to practice dietetics in the appropriate U.S. state(s).
  • 1+ years' clinical experience in longterm care.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to organize workloads and meet time deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft software programs.
