Job Duties
The capital projects manager (CPM) is a professional and leadership position that combines knowledge and expertise in architectural and engineering with project management and Commonwealth of Virginia (COV) capital procurement protocols.
The CPM plans and implements projects, prepares, and presents reports and submissions, and ensures that budgets and COV guidelines are adhered to, from concept to planning and the final completion of projects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Ability to read blueprints and construction specifications.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret Commonwealth of Virginia building and fire codes.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, architects, engineers, JYF staff, and external parties.
- Ability to analyze technical problems, make necessary corrections, and advise others on their work.
- Ability to review, select, and implement proper construction and contract procedures.
- Ability to understand and manage complex budgets.
- Knowledge of, and the ability to drive energy savings in project designs.
- Ability to understand and communicate written directions in manuals and on manufacturer websites.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, and interpersonal abilities.
- Attention to detail, the capacity to multitask, and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines.
- The ability to manage Infrastructure Projects as a service by directing and coordinating the daytoday activities, tasks and deliverables required from concept to completion, and according to the project plan.
- Knowledge of assessments and compliance methodologies, including Federal, ADA and Security compliance policies.
- Ability to serve as a project lead, facilitate meetings and lead planning, demos, and meetings.
Additional Considerations
- Certification in project management (PMP) and/or comparable knowledge and experiences.
- VCCO credential, or the ability to obtain the VCCO credential within one year of employment.
- Have successfully performed as a Project Manager, lead, or key member of at least one major facilities project.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License.
