- Assist the Head Chef in planning and executing the restaurant's menu, ensuring that all dishes are prepared with attention to detail and consistency.
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during food preparation, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to recipes and quality standards.
- Train and mentor kitchen team members, providing guidance on proper cooking techniques, food safety procedures, and kitchen organization.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering and stocking kitchen supplies and ingredients to minimize waste and ensure smooth operations.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and specials, incorporating seasonal and locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and in good working condition, and coordinate with maintenance staff for repairs as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in the kitchen area, including food storage areas, preparation surfaces, and equipment, in accordance with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of cost-control measures to maximize profitability while maintaining quality and guest satisfaction.
- Support the Head Chef in managing kitchen expenses, labor costs, and scheduling to meet budgetary targets.
- Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting teamwork, communication, and mutual respect among kitchen staff.
- Previous experience as a Sous Chef or senior line cook in a fast-paced restaurant environment, preferably with scratch cooking experience.
- Strong culinary skills and a passion for creating flavorful and visually appealing dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with kitchen staff and management.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with certification in ServSafe or equivalent preferred.
- Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
