Position Overview:
Weekends Required
- Verifies transport information from escort dispatcher to plan routes effectively and maintains a log of travel activities.
- Transports patients promptly as requested.
- Confirms patient identity by cross-checking identity information and medical charts to ensure accurate location in the hospital.
- Clearly explains to the patient the purpose and method of transfer using appropriate transfer equipment.
- Follows proper transfer techniques to guarantee patient safety in accordance with CH guidelines and procedures.
- Handles medication transfers in tamper-proof bags when necessary.
- Inspects transport equipment to ensure safe handling and correct functioning. Removes faulty or defective equipment from service.
- Communicates promptly with the dispatching unit in case of transport delays, damaged equipment, or patient issues and concerns.
- Identifies areas for improvement in the escort function and suggests recommendations for enhancement.
- Completes any additional assigned tasks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience: None required.
- Other Credentials: AHA Heartsaver AED
- Special Training: No prior training necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequent physical demands include: Bending, Reaching forward
- Occasional physical demands include: Sitting, Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), Carrying objects, Twisting, Wrist position deviation
- Continuous physical demands include: Standing, Walking, Push/Pull
- Lifting Floor to Waist 15 lbs. Lifting Waist Level and Above 25 lbs.
- Sensory Requirements include: Accurate Near Vision, Accurate Far Vision, Color Discrimination, Minimal Depth Perception, Accurate Hearing
- Anticipated Occupational Exposure Risks Include the following: Bloodborne Pathogens, Chemical, Airborne Communicable Disease, Uneven Surfaces or Elevations, Extreme Noise Levels, Dust/Particulate Matter
Capital Health mandates all applicants (including contractors, travelers, and consultants) to receive an annual flu vaccine before the commencement date, with exceptions granted for medical and religious grounds.
