SUMMARY
Moves and cleans vehicles, keeps the vehicles in sound working condition, and helps general manager as requested. Verifies receipt of and performs a damage inspection on new vehicles delivered to the dealership. Parks vehicles in the lot in an orderly manner. Maintains a safe, clean working environment for all dealership employees and customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains new
- and used-vehicle inventory appearance and performance by cleaning interior and exterior of vehicles, replenishing all vehicle fluids as needed, and replacing batteries when necessary.
Places buyer guides and stock tags in vehicles.
Keeps new
- and used-vehicle lots neat and orderly, moving cars as directed by the general manager and in accordance with dealership display standards.
Cleans driveway and sidewalks, removing debris as necessary.
Drives vehicles to and from service lane, service stalls, and parking lot as needed.
Makes key tags for vehicles.
Compares serial numbers of incoming cars against transit sheets.
Inspects vehicles to detect damage and to verify the presence of accessories listed on the invoice.
Records the description of damages and lists missing items on the delivery receipt.
Parks new vehicles in assigned areas.
Catalogs and stores keys.
Assigns stock control numbers to cars.
Moves sold vehicles to maximize use of space and keep the lot in order.
Delivers sold vehicles to the new-vehicle preparation department.
Services vehicles in storage to protect tires, battery, and finish against deterioration.
Cleans the service and customer areas.
Performs routine building maintenance in such a manner as to minimize interruption of customers or employees.
Cleans all signs, posters, service signs, mirrors, fans, and vending machines.
Maintains hot beverage areas by cleaning counter surfaces and restocking coffee and related supplies as needed.
Sets up downstairs conference room for meetings.
Cleans bathrooms and restocks paper supplies as needed.
Cleans all showroom vehicles and displays daily.
Empties and cleans all trash receptacles, inside and outside as needed.
Removes all debris from lot.
Maintains yard equipment and cleaning supplies.
Runs errands as directed by Inventory Supervisor and Sales Managers.
Understands and complies with OSHA Right-to-Know and other federal, state, and local regulations.
Uses proper eye, hand, and body protection when using products that require protection.
Standard Operating Procedure:
New Car Porter
Porter 1:
Hours 7:30 - 4:30 Mon -Fri & a rotating Saturday 9-6
Perform inspection & check in all new inventory from overnight transport including tagging keys, putting keys in key vault & filling books/ keys.
Make sure Texas & American flags get taken down for inclement weather & make sure flags are up as much as possible.
Empty all exterior trash cans & sweep curbs around building parking & customer parking
Makes sure break rooms are set up for Saturday morning meetings on Friday evening
Porter 2:
Hours 7:30 - 4:30 Mon -Fri & a rotating Saturday 9-6
Empty all exterior trash cans & sweep curbs around building parking & customer parking
Assist porter 1 with new vehicle check in
Re-park all Parkway owned vehicles left around building in customer parking
Inspect stick balloons & feather flags and make sure all are in good condition & advise if in need of repair/ replacement
Fill and straighten all lines in passenger cars
Remove all debris from passenger car lot
Check used cars for "As is" stickers
Check with used car Mgr. for instructions
Porter 3 & 4:
Hours 9:00- 6:00 Mon -Fri & a rotating Saturday 9-6
Assist in Re-parking all Parkway owned vehicles left around building in customer parking
Assist in Empting all exterior trash cans & sweep curbs around building parking & customer parking
Cleans driveway and sidewalks, removing debris as necessary.
Empty all exterior trash cans & sweep curbs around building parking & customer parking
Fill and straighten all lines in pickup trucks
Remove all debris from pick truck lot (porter 3)
Remove all debris from pre-owned car lot (porter 4)
Makes sure break rooms are set up for Saturday morning meetings on Friday evening
All New Car Porters should report to Sales Managers for other duties assigned.
MARGINAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Empties and cleans lunchroom refrigerator once a week.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities other than coordinating efforts with fellow coworkers.
