IT Tech Support Specialist - Tier II


Position Summary


The Technical Support Specialist - Tier II will play a critical role in providing effective technical support services to users, troubleshooting various hardware and software issues, and ensuring the smooth functioning of computer systems and databases.

This role requires proficiency in resolving technical support problems, offering guidance to users, and handling basic database administration tasks.


As an IT Specialist - Tier II, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient functioning of computer systems and databases, resolving technical issues, and providing support to users.

Your expertise in technical troubleshooting, database administration, and proactive support will be essential to maintaining a stable and effective IT environment in our organization.

Require computer hardware and software skills.

Organization and flexibility are important skills, along with the ability to multi-task, meet deadlines and work as part of a team.

Require excellent verbal and written communications skills.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide phone and inperson IT support services, responding to queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Maintain the daily performance of computer systems and ensure their smooth operation.
  • Offer desktop support for MS Office and Windows OS, Apple troubleshooting issues and providing necessary assistance.
  • Demonstrate proactive support by identifying potential problems or opportunities to improve systems and processes.
  • Examine existing IT systems and business models; analyze business improvement processes; design new IT solutions and technologybased solutions.
  • Provide solutions to technical problems for system administrators deploying, managing, and integrating Apple products and troubleshooting apple products.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support databases by providing basic assistance with database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design.
  • Recommend solutions for defining the physical structure and functional capabilities of databases, data security, and data backup recovery.
  • Cultivate expertise in database management systems and products.
  • Monitor database performance using tools and utilities to identify and resolve bottlenecks.
  • Optimize databases, including query optimization, index management, and database schema design.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a relevant technical, engineering, or scientific field, or an equivalent combination of education and related IT experience.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resolving technical problems, and providing user support.
  • Basic understanding of networks and experience in resolving related issues.
  • Strong knowledge and handson experience with MS Office and Windows OS support.
  • Experience deploying, managing, and integrating Apple products and troubleshooting Apple products.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, provide proactive support, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience in working with databases, including basic database administration tasks and integration of systems.
  • Ability to collaborate with clients, understand their requirements, and recommend suitable solutions.
  • Entrylevel understanding of database performance monitoring, optimization, and schema design.

Project Location
Onsite 5 days a week in NE Washington, DC
