Position Summary:

The Nutritionist provides nutrition information, services and collection of all related data on clients of the Women, Infant and Children's (WIC) Program, both in English and Spanish.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Prepare nutrition education classes: group and one-on-one sessions.
• Provide nutrition assessments, nutrition counseling and education to WIC clients.
• Conduct high risk appointments and follow up needs.
• Conduct all appointments with a participant centered service (PCS) approach.
• Collect heights, weights, and hemoglobin in accordance with WIC policies and procedures.
• Maintain prescription formula log and contact doctors if there are discrepancies.
• Recommend, document and place orders for special formula.
• Attend all WIC related meetings.
• Assist in management duties, including resolving client disputes.
• Assist clerks and CPA's when needed/able.
• Assist all staff in expanding their nutrition knowledge, including staff in-service presentations.
• Provide accurate and timely documentation of all client information.
• Act as preceptor for new CPA's/CPAT's. Guide them through the training modules and online classes. Observe them with participants and provide feedback.
• Rotate between clinics as needed to ensure proper service to participants.
• Additional WIC related duties as necessary to provide the best service possible for WIC clients.
• Protect all confidential information, Agency property and electronic data. Comply with safety rules.
• Other related duties as directed.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Able to work with children and a diverse population.
• Bilingual in Spanish.
• Detail oriented and able to multitask.
• Possess excellent oral and written communication as well as management skills.
• Sound judgment to ability to work autonomously.
• Prioritize work and meet necessary deadlines.
• Proficiency in computers and software including Microsoft Office, Excel and Power Point.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor Degree in Nutrition and/or Registered Dietician credentials.
• Must be Bilingual (Spanish).
• Flexible schedule to work after hours and weekends, as necessary.
• Must be at least 25 years old, a valid Driver's License with current minimum Nevada state required auto insurance.
• Must have reliable transportation to travel to two clinics.

Physical Requirements

• Primarily works in office environment, but will also work throughout the agency and off site.
• Ability to communicate with clients and co-workers.
• Ability to operate and use office equipment, especially phones, computer, keyboard and mouse.
• Ability to continuously sit and/or stand. Ability to climb stairs as needed.
• May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.

This position pays $22.00 per hour.
