CV Extrusion Operator

Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, operate a variety of continuous vulcanization extruders, producing high quality bulk ignition wire or related product.


Duties, Requirements and Responsibilities:


  • Perform all aspects of position in conformance to applicable work instructions.
  • Perform set-ups in an efficient manner as required by work orders or direction.
  • Operate extruder at sufficient speed and to meet production standard.
  • Assure extruder is up and running at a minimum of 75% of monthly schedule.
  • Perform specific quality checks, such as OD, wall thickness, etc., record results.
  • Operate extruder to conform to quality requirements by making necessary adjustments as indicated by visual inspection, gauges and PC screen.
  • Complete labor, inventory and quality reporting requirements in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain equipment by making minor repairs/adjustments as required.
  • Maintain clean workstation.
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Must be able to accurately report production and inventory moves.

Job Skills:


  • Must be able to read, write and be able to follow directions.**Must be able to work in standing posture for extended periods.**Must lift up to 50 lb. repetitively and perform stooping, bending, reaching, pulling.**Must be able to manipulate reels of wire weighing up to 1200 lb. and gaylords of raw material up to 1500 via pallet cart.**Must be able to work with factory PC with video display and touch screen controls.**Must be analytical, mechanically inclined, organized and detailed oriented.
  • Must be able to view and determine quality of print on moving wire.**Must be able to work with raw materials and chemicals present in workplace environment.**Must have legible handwriting and basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be able to measure with and accurately read various gauges.**Must be able and willing to work significant overtime hours when assigned.
