Manager for the Public Cloud Project Management Team
Canonical is seeking a talented and experienced Manager to lead our Public Cloud Project Management Team.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the successful delivery of projects related to Ubuntu's integration and optimization on various public cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and others.

You will lead a team of project managers, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and high-quality execution of projects that drive the adoption and success of Ubuntu in the cloud.

The role entails:


  • Lead and mentor a diverse and distributed team of project managers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Develop and implement project management processes, standards, and best practices to ensure effective project execution and delivery.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project management processes, tools, and team productivity.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, and other stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Plan, prioritize, and allocate resources to ensure that project timelines and milestones are met.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for critical projects, addressing customer concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Establish and monitor metrics for the health of the Public Cloud Projects Portfolio, identifying risks and issues, and proactively implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Work with crossteam leads to tackle common challenges across projects.
  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation within the project management team and throughout the organization.
  • Promote a culture of execution excellence, driving a commitment to delivering highquality results consistently.

What we are looking for in you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, STEM, or related field.
  • Experience leading diverse, remote project teams in a technology company.
  • Experience with crosscultural and multicontinent projects.
  • Experience hiring, managing teams, and developing skills.
  • Strong software engineering project management experience.
  • Passion and commitment to Agile project management methodologies.
  • Successful track record of delivering complex and large commercial technology projects.
  • Strong understanding of public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience with cloudnative technologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problemsolving abilities, with a resultsoriented mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fastpaced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Able to travel 46 weeks a year, up to two weeks at a time, sometimes internationally.
  • Flexibility to work nonstandard hours when required, in support of global project teams.
  • Agile Project Management Certification
  • Experience working with Jira

Nice to have skills:


  • Previous experience with opensource software or cloud services.
  • Master's degree, MBA, or similar qualification
  • PMP/PMI or PRINCE2 practitioner certification.
