- Responsible for the development, safety and conduct of the team(s).
- Strives to reduce the likelihood of sports-related injuries or the aggravation of such injuries during practice sessions and scheduled contests by being knowledgeable of the injuries sustained in the sport and teaching proper prevention methods, directing appropriate pre-training session and pre-contest preparations and warm ups, and working with qualified sports medicine personnel or athletic trainers during all training sessions and contests.
- Responsible for team training for assigned sport(s).
- Enables student-athletes to perform to their physical potential in their sport through the development and management of individual and group weight, strength, and fitness training programs.
- Develops programs by evaluating current physical conditioning, having a knowledge of the various sports and associated exercises, tailoring strength programs for specific needs, demonstrating proper performance of exercises, correcting mistakes.
- Manages programs by monitoring progress and providing an assessment of development.
- Promotes commitment, teamwork and develops working relationships.
- Establishes rapport with and ensures open lines of communication with the coaching staff, student-athletes of all teams, and athletic training staff.
- Assists in the administration of the entire program, including assisting with daily weight room practices and conditioning responsibilities.
- Provides an overall positive environment for the strength and conditioning development of all student-athletes.
- Contributes to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Supports recommendations as set forth by athletics department designated registered dietitian for good nutrition and supplementation for the health and performance of the student-athletes.
- Develops and implements a cleaning schedule for the weight room and weight room equipment in the Yordon Center weight room.
- Bachelor's Degree in exercise science field.
- Minimum two years of experience in strength and conditioning on the university or college level.
- Minimum one year of administrative experience in a sports training facility, department, or program.
- USA weightlifting certification.
- Minimum one year of speed development experience.
- Master's Degree
