Description

Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant position is a full-time staff position supporting Finance Department leadership in carrying out the responsibilities of the department. This position should display our Core Values of SERVE (Serve, Equip, Relate, Value, Engage) when interfacing with both internal and external customers to ensure that the message and mission of Answers in Genesis is portrayed in an effective and God-honoring fashion. Position specific responsibilities will focus on activities such as cash management, general ledger postings, account reconciliations, and some financial reporting & analysis of various metrics as required (including but not limited to ministry sales, contribution revenues, and expenses). This position reports to the Accounting Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Promote the mission and standards of Answers in Genesis
• Live out the Ministry's core values of SERVE
• Prioritize personal integrity in all interactions and assignments
• Assist with calculating, compiling, and documenting general ledger transactions
• Prepare and maintain various schedules
• Perform regular account reconciliations
• Assist with month-end closing procedures
• Assist with annual audit
• Prepare financial reports and analysis as needed to support other departments
• Support department leadership on special projects as needed

Qualifications

Requirements:

• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
• Regularly attends a local Bible-believing church
• Agree to the Answers in Genesis Statement of Faith
• Excellent computer skills.
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong proficiency with Excel spreadsheets
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills
• Capable of working independently with little supervision
• Must be able to work 40 hours/week
• Experience with any of the following is a plus:
  • Non-profit Accounting
  • Budgeting/Forecasting
  • Cost Accounting
  • Asset Management
  • Accounting Software
  • Taxes

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
