UPMC St. Margaret is currently hiring a Full-Time Professional Staff Nurse to support the 4A Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit.

Graduate Nurses with no prior patient care experience are welcome to apply in addition to candidates with prior nursing experience.

This position is eligible for a generous Sign-On Bonus

* $20,000 with a 2-year commitment for experienced Registered Nurses with more than 1 year of experience
* $10,000 or $15,000 with a 2-year commitment for Graduate Nurses with less than 1 year of RN experience
* $10,000 for Fall 2022, Spring 2023, & Summer 2023 graduates
* $15,000 for Fall 2023, Spring 2024, & Summer 2024 graduates


About 4A Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation:
UPMC St. Margaret 4A Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility is a 28-bed facility in an acute care hospital. Our facility provides comprehensive rehabilitation services part of an intensive rehabilitation program. Patients who are admitted must be able to tolerate 3 hours of intense rehabilitations services per day.

Rehabilitation services include treatment by a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, rehabilitation nursing, PT/OT, SLP, orthotics, respiratory, case management, social services, and/or nutritional services.

The Rehabilitation team treats a variety of conditions including, stroke, orthopedics, arthritis, neurological disorders, and general debilitation.

The vision of our Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit is for our rehabilitation facility to be recognized as the patient's first choice for quality rehabilitation care in our community and our interdisciplinary team as leaders and experts in the profession of rehabilitation services.

Our mission is to Help patients with altered functional ability & lifestyles reach their goals and their highest level of function by the time of discharge by providing them with individualized efficient, effective care & rehabilitation services.

Staff on this unit work as a close-knit team to provide life changing medicine to their patients.

Given the extended length of time that patients spend on this unit, staff have an opportunity to create meaningful relationships with their patients.

Qualifications:

• Zero to two years of experience.
• BSN preferred
• The individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and/or interact appropriately to the ages of the patients served by his/her assigned unit as specified below.
• They must also demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needs as described in the department policy and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, other departments, and patients/families.
• Ability to work productively and effectively within a complex environment, handle multiple/changing priorities and specialized equipment.
• Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem solving abilities required as related to various aspects of patient care.
• Critical thinking skills necessary to exercise and to lead others in application of the nursing process.
• Mobility and visual manual dexterity. Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
• Registered Nurse (RN)
• Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
• Graduate nurses must complete licensure examination within FOUR MONTHS of hire or within one year of graduation, whichever comes first. Though temporary permits are valid for one year from the date of graduation, not one year from issue of permit (or until the results of the examination are known at which time it becomes null and void),
• UPMC requires that GNs take the licensure examination within 4 months of their start date, or they will be terminated or demoted from the GN position, at the discretion of the BU.
