POSITION OVERVIEW
PQ is a leading global provider of silicates, silicas and derivative products.
For over 200 years, PQ's products are used in a wide variety of industrial processes and many customer products, from decorative paints to green cement, from clean drinking water to green tires and from toothpaste to biofuels and beer.
PQ is seeking a versatileProduct Manager to join our Americas Silicates and Global Silicas Business Teams.
In this position, you will report directly to the Marketing Director and be responsible for product line management for the silicates and silicas portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Optimize product mix for asset efficiency and maximum value / margin extraction
- Understand raw materials, cost drivers, make vs buy, maximize Return on Invested Capital
- Collaborate with marketing to continually assess and understand competitive landscape
- Understand user needs and develop strategies on how to remain competitive in the market
- Work across other functions (sales, tech service, R&D, ops, supply chain, finance) to execute product line strategies including the Integrated Business Management process
- Rationalize SKUs to reduce complexity and improve profitability
- Work closely with operations, supply chain and quality to ensure supply reliability and product compliance to specifications and regulations.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
In order to be qualified for this role, the following requirements are
necessary:
- Bachelors degree (business or technical)
- Minimum ten years in marketing, product management, sales or comparable business management experience environment
- Strategic thinking and change agent with proven experience in managing business process improvement
- Flexibility and adaptability to the demands and requirements of a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities
- Strong analytical aptitude with a proven ability to interpret data and build quantitative models to improve business results
- Demonstrative influencing and leadership skills
- Results oriented individual
- Strong communication and networking skills
preferred by the business unit:
- Experience in chemical or related manufacturing industry
- Advanced degree (MBA) or strong financial acumen
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires some travel (up to 1015%)
