Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Project Surveyor to join our heavy civil construction team. This position works with the project personnel and owner's representative. They interpret paper and digital plans onsite in order to construct the project. Additionally, they maintain the records, calculations and documentation for the Project As-builts and quantities.


Responsibilities:


  • Surveying Operations: Conduct comprehensive field surveys using advanced surveying equipment, such as total stations, GPS receivers, and laser scanners, to establish control points, benchmarks, and reference markers for construction projects.
  • Topographic Mapping: Perform detailed topographic surveys to map existing site conditions, including terrain, structures, utilities, and natural features, using surveying instruments and aerial imagery.
  • Construction Layout: Provide precise layout and staking services for construction activities, including excavation, grading, foundation placement, road alignment, and utilities installation, in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Quantity Calculation: Calculate earthwork volumes, cut and fill quantities, and material quantities for construction activities based on survey data and project requirements.

Conduct accurate as-built surveys to record the final position and dimensions of constructed elements, verifying compliance with design plans and specifications.


  • Data Analysis: Collect, process, and analyze survey data using computer software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Trimble Business Center to generate survey reports, drawings, and digital terrain models.
  • Quality Control: Ensure the accuracy and reliability of survey data through rigorous quality control measures, including error detection, data validation, and adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of surveying personnel and construction workers on site, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA regulations.
  • Coordination: Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, field crews, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies to coordinate surveying activities and address any surveyrelated issues or concerns.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of survey data, field notes, project documentation, and correspondence to support project documentation and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:


  • PLS certified
  • Bachelors Degree desired (not required)
  • 4+ years experience in construction layout/ surveying
  • Proficient in CAD and Microsoft products
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong understanding of surveying principles, techniques, and practices, including boundary surveying, construction layout, topographic mapping, and geodetic control.

Pay:
$70, $100,000.00 per year
