- At least 6 years of tax and accounting experience in a CPA firm
- Licensed CPA or EA
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams and multiple projects and clients
- High proficiency with tax, accounting, and office software
- Extensive individual/corporate/partnership tax knowledge. Trust experience tax knowledge a plus. Expertise in tax code, compliance and procedures with business clients
- Self accountable and detail-oriented
- Own tax planning and tax return preparation for clients and collaborate with nternal accounting and VCFO teams to deliver a holistic service to clients
- Coach, mentor, and manage a team of tax professionals
- Review tax returns and other work prepared by tax department team members for accuracy and alignment with established client tax strategy, savings opportunities, and compliance with tax law
- Prepare complex tax returns as needed
- Research and consult on complex tax matters
- Ensure accuracy and quality control of all tax work
- Meet with key clients to review tax, adjust and optimize tax strategy, and feed learnings into processes
- Identify and offer additional client service opportunities
- Oversee the operationalization of technology, processes, and KPIs for the tax team
- Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date client tax records
- Maintain confidentiality with personal and sensitive data
- Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning with management
- Participate in continuing education, study existing and new federal, state, and local legislation, and achieve required annual CPE credits
- "Analytically creative" tax strategist who takes time to understand client's tax situation, forms insights, and recommends courses of action
- Continuous learner who is committed to ongoing learning and application of best practices and latest updates in tax, tax strategy, and technology
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize efficiently
- Ability to work under periods of high pressure with tight timeframes while maintaining focus
- Experience collaborating with additional client functions (such as Virtual CFO and accounting) and creating a holistic experience for clients on behalf of the firm
- Exceptional communicator who puts client experience front and center
