DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS


We are currently looking for a Director of Operations for our Dan Wesson Facility in Norwich, New York, to manage all hands-on operational aspects of the business.

This individual will need to spend 90% of his/her time at the New York facility.


JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Directs manufacturing operations for the organization.
  • Builds and develops operations organization, processes, and procedures to support strategic direction.
  • Establishes operations initiatives for improvement in safety, quality, cost, deliver and employee relations.
  • Establishes operations standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and ontime delivery.
  • Recommends and implements strategic changes in manufacturing and operations strategy.
  • Provides leadership for problem resolution to facilitate faster improvements and improved working relationships.
  • Provides leadership through a 612 month planning cycle.
  • Possesses technical skills in Lean manufacturing techniques, Kaizen, Process Improvement, materials management, and production scheduling.
  • Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITY FOR PERSONNEL:

Exercises supervisory authority over Managers of Engineering and Manufacturing, and indirect authority of their direct reports. Ultimately responsibility for employees throughout the manufacturing, continuous improvement, maintenance, and manufacturing engineering departments.


Plans and directs all aspects of the organization's operational policies, objectives, initiatives and is ultimately responsible for capital budgeting and expenditures.


EDUCATION
BS in Mechanical Engineering or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience


EXPERIENCE AND SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE
Ten or more years management experience in a manufacturing environment providing leadership and implementing a strategic vision. Must demonstrate an ability to lead people and get results through others. Ability to think and plan over one-to-two-year time span. Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Experience with problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
