We are hiring for positions under the Global Health Training, Advisory, Support Contract (GHTASC) in support of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for Global Health (GH).

These roles deliver institutional support services in a wide range of technical areas at the junior, mid-, senior, and expert levels.


Position Summary


The Junior Program Assistant will primarily support USAID's Malaria Division in the Bureau for Global Health's Office of Infectious Disease as a Credence Institutional Support Contractor (ISC) under GHTASC.


Specifically, the Junior Program Assistant will provide management and administrative support to the US President's Malaria Initiative (PMI), which is housed within the Bureau for Global Health.

PMI is the US Government's (USG) flagship global malaria initiative and is led by USAID and co-implemented with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Oversight of PMI is carried out under the leadership of the U.S. Global Malaria Coordinator.

President's Malaria Initiative Strategy _, the goals of PMI are to reduce malaria mortality, reduce malaria morbidity, and accelerate progress toward national or subnational elimination in PMI partner countries.

PMI's strategic approach includes reaching the unreached, strengthening community health systems, keeping malaria services resilient, investing locally, and innovating and leading.

PMI supports the implementation of evidence-based interventions at-scale, including malaria diagnosis with microscopy and malaria diagnostic tests; malaria treatment with artemisinin-based combination therapy; vector control with insecticide-treated mosquito nets and indoor residual spraying; chemoprevention, such as intermittent preventive treatment of malaria in pregnancy and seasonal malaria chemoprevention; surveillance; supply chain strengthening; and social and behavior change.

The Initiative is results-based, focused, and exhibits a high level of financial and programmatic accountability.


The Junior Program Assistant will be an integral member of the Malaria Division, providing administrative and analysis support to technical staff, Activity Managers, Contracting Officer's Representatives (COR), and Agreement Officer's Representatives (AOR) for the day-to-day management of PMI's flagship malaria control and elimination projects.

The Junior Program Assistant will also play a key role in supporting administrative and knowledge management processes, including malaria operational planning, meeting scheduling, and information dissemination.

They will also provide direct assistance to the Malaria Division Chief and Malaria Division Deputy.


Salary Range:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed below:

The Junior Program Assistant will be an integral member of the Malaria Division and provide day-to-day support for Division operations, as well as awards managed within the Malaria Division.

Specifically, the Assistant will be charged with the following:


  • Schedule, organize, provide logístical support, and take notes for Division meetings, workshops, and events, which includes reserving conference rooms or other appropriate facilities, preparing agendas, notifying participants, setting up equipment, providing technology support, assembling background and informational materials, and distributing meeting notes.
  • Support PMI's flagship malaria control and elimination awards by reviewing workplans, annual reports, and other relevant deliverables; regularly engaging with PMI country colleagues and the implementing partner to discuss project progress, milestones, and challenges; and following up to promote smooth project operations and progress towards PMI objectives.
  • Assist in the financial and administrative management of PMI's flagship awards, ensuring that all documentation is complete and in compliance with USAID rules, regulations, and standards (e.g., processing waivers and obligations, preparing accruals, tracking obligations/pipelines, etc).
