Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat constructs and rehabilitates homes alongside homeowner families.

Job Summary:

The Construction Assistant works alongside the Construction Foreman and our volunteers on home repair and new construction work sites.

He/she helps to maintain a safe, organized, and productive work environment. The Construction Assistant serves as a representative of Northern Ocean Habitat and our mission at all times.


Job Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Provide construction labor as needed. Be able to work on ladders and lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Assist with procurement of materials.
• Assist with planning and organization of the worksite with necessary tools and PPE.
• Maintain a safe worksite at all times according to HFHI Competent Person guidelines.
• Keep work trucks clean and organized.
• Follow site cleanup and tool storage procedures.

Position Specific Details:

• The typical work week is 8:00 AM4:00 PM Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday with flexibility according to program needs.
• The Construction Assistant attends monthly staff meetings and is occasionally asked to attend other constructionrelated meetings.

Applicant Requirements

Applicants should have knowledge of and experience using hand and power tools. Some experience in construction and home repairs is preferred, but onsite training will be provided.

The construction assistant will need to:

• Have a clean driving record and provide a 5-year driving abstract.

$ $22.00 per hour
