    Health and Safety Specialist

    Our Dominguez, CA (Long Beach) plant is on the hunt for a Health and Safety Specialist. This is a corporate role.


    The base salary range for this position in as for the job description criteria as listed is $100,000 to $130,000 annually.

    Our salary ranges are determined by market data based on position and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for that position.

    Where an individual's pay falls within the range is determined by factors including, but not limited to, location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

    In some cases, compensation may fall outside of this range depending on factors, including a candidate's qualification, skills, competencies, experience, and location.

    Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work.

    Thisposition actively analyzes the work environment, local culture, and policies tocontinuously improve Health and Safety performance on site. Thisposition inspects the workplace for adherence to regulations on safety andhealth. They help design, implement, train employees, and auditversus compliance on programs to prevent injury and/or disease. Positiontravels 10% of time to support the Portland, OR site. Position may additionally travel up toanother 10% to support other site audits and/or turnarounds.

    Somespecific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


    TEAMS
    Actively participate and support Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) Meetings (monthly)Member of local Management TeamCoordinate and Lead Emergency Response Team (ERT) activity (drills, critiques, training, equipment inspections, etc)Encourage Health & Wellness (H&W) TeamWorks closely with HSE peersFIELDPRESENCE

    20% target time in field.
    Daily Field Audits such as LCPs, My Check 5s, GSWP auditsRecognize positive behaviors and/or hazardous situations, and provide feedback.

    Periodically attend Operations, Maintenance, and or Contractor Toolbox meetings (weekly)Promote good housekeepingTurnaround primary H&S support, including daily toolboxes, daily field observations, daily safety lunch, and daily 2PM meetings months per unit).Approximately 80% time in field.

    Solicit HS feedback from employeesTRAINING


    Maintain Training Matrix (as needed)Prepare & Deliver Plant wide Safety Meetings (monthly)Set FMT/CBT schedule (annual)HSI and TrakStar administrator (as needed)Coordinate Fire Extinguisher training (annual)Coordinate H&S equipment inspections (annual)Prepare and deliver refresher training effort for plant safety programsOn-Board new employeesProvide quarterly reports on training program status.

    PROCEDURES& PROGRAMS

    Liaison with contractors for safety issues.

    Maintain contractor safety programDevelop new and maintain existing H&S ProceduresDevelop new and maintain existing ERT ProceduresManagement of Change H&S Approver (as needed)Variance H&S Approver (as needed)MaintainDevelop new and maintain existing ERT ProceduresManagement of Change H&S Approver (as needed)Variance H&S Approver (as needed)Maintain Preventative Ratio (monthly)Participate in PSM Dashboard meetings (monthly)Coordinate Physicals (annual)Coordinate Industrial Hygiene MonitoringEnsure weekly, monthly, quarterly HSE Inspections are done satisfactorily.


    OTHER


    HSE Upward Reports (weekly)Participate in / Facilitate / Lead HSE Incident Investigations (as needed)Prepare Incident HSE Alerts Learnings (as needed)Enter HSE related purchase requisitions and timely pay associated invoices.

    Primary point of contact for regional, state, and federal HSE auditorsManage the site Equipment Specific LOTO program.
    Assist with Enablon HSE Action ItemsActive involvement with Severe Weather preparednessMANAGEMENT SYSTEMS


    RC14001 Implementation and MaintenanceSupport ECOVYST 20P Requirements (as needed)Support Process Safety Management programs (CCPS)Maintain Aspects and Impacts, Communication Grid, and Legal Register.

    Responsible to update the aspects list as new information becomes available (such as spill investigations, ministry/agency inspections, internal/external audits, process changes, etc.).Futureopportunities for growth within the position may include Security and/ormanagement system auditor.


    Health,Safety, and Environmental Responsibilities:
    Follow the 10 Expectations of Employees & LeadersFollow Life Saving Behaviors and HSE Commitment Charter

    Complete all computer based HSE training by their deadlines to comply with HSE requirements & policies.
    Be a visible presence on site to promote good health, safety, and environmental practices and reduce risks.

    Maintain employee interest, involvement, and support in all aspects of site HSE programs.
    Participation in risk assessment audits (PHA, CTA, JSA, etc.) as applicable.

    Plan, organize, coordinate, and monitor onsite HSES risk and control, continuously liaising with- and between management and staff to ensure compliance to procedures.

    Build and maintain a relevant internal and external stakeholder network and represent Eco Services as an organization.
    Stay current on updated plant HSE technologies, policies, procedures, government rules / laws / regulations pertaining to this plant.
    Lead, support, promote, improve, and enforce compliance with all corporate/plant HSE policies, procedures, performance standards, ISO/RC 14001, and Ecovyst 20 Principles


    Requirements:


    Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent combination of education and experience.5+ years' experience preferred in chemical plant / refinery experience.2+ years' experience preferred with in multiple HSE areas a plus (environmental, health, occupational safety, process safety, etc.)Knowledge of OSHA & NIOSH standards, including PSMFamiliarity with industry standards & practices (API, ASME, NFPA, etc)Well-trained & practiced in Incident Investigation Cause Mapping, RCFA and / or equivalent.

    Well-trained & practiced in Emergency Response (HAZMAT, Incident Command Structure, First Aid, Confined Space Rescue)Ability to comprehend, analyze, and understand the legal aspects of local legislation and develop compliance programs to decrease facility process safety liabilities and reduce process risksAbility to speak in front of a group and demonstrated ability to be an effective trainer.

    Works well under pressure - ability to meet tight deadlines with quality results.

    Strong communication/inter-personal skills - able to inspire and encourage the use of best practices at plant sites, able to communicate with plant staff, GBU management, and regulatory agencies.

    Ability to relate to and communicate effectively with shop floor.
    Must be well-versed in MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel, & Outlook.
    Must understand basic chemistry
