As a Warehouse Supervisor, you will be responsible for assisting the Regional Warehouse Manager in all aspects of the warehouse, ensuring work completed efficiently and effectively throughout the Production, Shipping and Receiving departments.

You will have overall responsibility of satellite employees, ensuring that we execute quality shipments, within a safe working environment, and meeting output expectations of customer needs and profitability targets.

This includes the coordination of work through several operations (turret press, shear, press brakes, weld and paint) while maintaining a 24 hour turn around on all customer orders.


WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING (% of Time)


Lead, develop, motivate, train, and direct employees using effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance problems.

Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among department members and the organization. Consistently exemplify the highest of safety standards and monitor others to the same standards. Ensure that all Simpson policies and procedures are adhered to by all teammates. Create work schedules and delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback. Have a presence in the warehouse and in production to assist and guide leads and employees with daily tasks. (40%)

Review and edit employee timecards. Approve and deny employee time off requests. Monitor workflow processes while looking for improvement opportunities. Analyze data, such as SAP productivity reports, errors, and schedules, daily and make recommendations for improvement accordingly.

Ensure critical functions are maintained such as, but not limited to:
PGIs completed, proper cycle counts, batch management, and audits of various processes. Create reports, spreadsheets and presentations. (25%)

Facilitate in developing continuous improvement culture. Manage and train employees on Lean program. Measure and report results to Leadership on a regular basis.

Partner with other branches and places of knowledge to learn Simpson practices and gain new ideas to put into practice.

Design and drive programs to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the department.

Coordinate the organization of work within the department by attending performance meetings, analyzing of daily department results, collaborating with other departments to resolve issues, correspond with internal and external customers as needed, manage scheduling of personnel to meet demand.

Activities are focused on mid to longer term planning needs to the success of the department. (15%)

Lead and develop the warehouse and production layouts to align to current volumes creating optimal flow. Facilitate warehouse clean up, ensuring a safe clean environment at all times. Annual participation in inventories and conduct daily scheduled cycle counts. Maintain equipment per the PM schedule and schedule repairs when needed. (10%)

Schedule outbound shipments in accordance to set truckload schedules. Release inter-branch and customer orders for shipment. Collaborate with freight lines and common carriers. (5%)

Work with the Human Resources department for staffing needs and conduct first face-to-face interviews. Develop or modify training procedure and keep track of all training. (5%)


DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • College degree or technical school certificate in business preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in warehouse and logistics required.
  • Managing others (3 years).
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively mentor and develop team (3 years).
  • Experience in quantitative analysis by using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of solution options to problems required.
  • The ability to monitor/assess your own performance and others' to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
  • The ability to effectively use Word, Excel, and Outlook to carry out work (intermediate level).
