Position Purpose


Performs in-process inspections, final inspections, and makes final airworthiness determinations for repaired parts and ACFT, receiving and shipping inspections, Safety Coordinator, Training Coordinator.


Position Levels


The Quality Inspector levels I-III require varying degrees of experience, job knowledge and skill, which are generally acquired through vocational education and/or apprenticeships, certifications, and specialized, or on‐the‐job training.

Problems are typically solved through knowledge of past practices and procedural guidelines, or knowledge gained through a certification or licensing program.

For levels 2 and 3, these positions require specialized knowledge of processes and procedures.


LEVEL 1:

Applies basic skills while developing some specialized skills in procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment appropriate to area of specialization; performs routine and/or repetitive tasks; limited decision making required; generally, works under close supervision; has limited experience; work is performed from within specific limits of established procedures and/or defined instructions.

One to three years' experience is desirable. Advancement to Level II is based on demonstrated proficiency in all duties and responsibilities.


LEVEL 2:

Applies skills and job knowledge in area of specialization; may adapt procedures, operations, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet needs of area of specialization; may work on non‐routine tasks; may train other Inspectors, resolves issues/makes working decisions within area of specialization or responsibility with mínimal supervision.

Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and have knowledge of company RSQM manual and applicable SOP's.


LEVEL 3:

Job Code: 609): Regularly works on tasks that are varied and complex.

Applies full range of specialized skills and job knowledge; frequently adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials, and/or equipment to meet specialized needs; may serve as lead and may train/mentor other Inspectors in maintenance inspections, final inspection and return to service processes; performs broad and/or focused assignments under general supervision; problem‐solving frequently requires analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure; originality and ingenuity are often required to help.

Employees at this level function with a high degree of autonomy and have a high degree of knowledge and expertise in their areas.

Employee must hold an Airframe and/or Powerplant license and have knowledge of FAA part 43, 145 and 91 regulations. Become familiar and proficient in McDermotts RSQM technical manuals, applicable and SOP's. Eight or more years of increasingly responsible experience is required for Level III.


Quality Inspector Duties & Responsibilities

  • Inspects parts, components, assemblies, major assemblies, aircraft repairs, and processes in the assigned maintenance facility, including in process and final inspections.
  • Determines if products and services meet continued airworthiness requirements and certify.
  • Responsible for maintaining compliance with FAA regulations and company policies.
  • Performs audit functions within the organization as required.
  • Performs Receiving Inspection duties as required.
  • Perform shipping inspections duties as required
  • Supports continuous process improvement initiatives with a focus on process efficiency.
  • Periodic travel as required to support Inspection duties in the field.
  • Perform Root Cause Analysis as required
  • Develop and perform audits to support the internal Audit process
  • Initiate and update procedures and processes as required
  • Other inspection duties as assigned by Accountable Manager

Additional Duties:


  • Safety Coordinator_:
  • Be the main focal point for safety and Safety training.
  • Will advise DOM on Safety compliance concerns and preventative actions
  • Coordinate with Australia on safety department
  • Training Coordinator:_
  • Develop training syllabus for new hires and reoccurring training requirements.
  • As new processes, procedures, manuals, or SOPs are released, produce detailed training syllabuses to support the new data.
