Claims Representative - PCoRP

The Claims Representative 2 is a senior level claims staff member, with experience in handling complex general liability, public officials liability, law enforcement liability, auto liability and property claims for members of CCAP's Pennsylvania Counties Risk Pool (PCoRP). This position involves dealing with various types of claims, including the most intricate, catastrophic, and expensive ones. The staff in this role typically have at least four years of claims experience within and outside of CCAP.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs work on different claims with limited supervision, reporting to the Senior Claims Supervisor for general direction, settlement authority, and work evaluations.
  • Handles litigation files and excess reportable files under moderate supervision.
  • Manages investigation, evaluation, reserving, expense control, vendor monitoring, litigation management, and resolution of PCoRP claims.
  • Works on catastrophic loss claims, with some supervision.
  • Collaborates with PCoRP defense counsel on budget, strategy, and options for claims.
  • Communicates with PCoRP members regarding claims settlements.
  • Provides reports to PCoRP reinsurers according to guidelines, answering queries and reviewing reserves when needed.
  • Shares information with members, producers, and others on coverage, claim status, and procedures for assigned claims.
  • Analyzes claim exposure, makes decisions, and settles claims effectively.
  • Communicates action plans clearly and moves cases towards resolution.
  • Follows up with investigators and defense counsel for successful claims resolution.
  • Identifies areas for Risk Control improvement and advises management accordingly.
  • Manages a full case load, handling increasingly severe cases.
  • Preserves confidentiality with professionalism and sound judgment when processing claims.
  • Participates in PCoRP training events for members and conducts presentations.
  • Conducts member claims review visits and oversees special projects as assigned.
  • Trains new claims representatives and supports general CCAP operations.
  • Contributes to short and long-range planning for the CCAP Claims Unit and Insurance Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of legal liability, insurance policy coverage, Medicare Section 111 Reporting, and Governmental Tort Immunity.
  • Preferably a college degree in business, insurance, or related fields, or four or more years of multiline claims adjuster experience.
  • Ability to assess injury exposures and manage litigated general liability claims.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are crucial.
  • Familiarity with claims management systems and Windows programs.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and negotiation abilities.
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and customer service skills.
  • SCLA designation is a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and acceptable MVR.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel required for various claim activities and meetings.
  • Ability to use computer equipment efficiently.

FLSA

Exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Pay:

$55, $60,000.00 per year
