Duties:

As a Program Support Specialist at the GS , some of your typical work assignments may include:

  • Assisting management in assessing the effectiveness of all the support functions performed in the department, e.g., budget, procurement, telecommunications, payroll, supply, accountable property, records management, reports and first line customer service for DVC staff.
  • Monitoring support functions with the goal of improving the efficiency of the function and researching ways of improving customer service.
  • Utilizing automated software programs for generating word processing documents, spreadsheets, tables and formulas.
  • Assisting in drafting procedural guidelines and memoranda in any of the support functional areas.

Qualifications:


Experience:


  • GS11: One year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS09 grade level in the Federal service, obtained in either the private or public sector:
  • Performing program support functions for an office/organization in the areas of payroll, accountable property and records management.
  • Preparing and editing a variety of documents such as reports, spreadsheets, forms, tables, charts, graphs and correspondence.
  • Researching appropriate regulations and guidance related to program support functions to resolve issues or improve operating procedures; AND

  • Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g. Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Education:

GS-11: Ph.
D.

or equivalent doctoral degree or_ 3_ full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field, such as business administration, orLL.M.

Combination of Experience and Education:
GS-11: Combination of education and experience as specified above.

For example, an applicant who has 1.5 full years of Ph.
D. level education (i.e. 50% of education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position.
