    Description
    The Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP), operated by the Department of Mental Health (DMH), is seeking self-motivated individual to be the Clinical Training Specialist to address the training needs of all Nursing, Clinical, Medical, and Aftercare staff. This includes participation in the annual needs assessment and development of annual training plan, coordination of professional development opportunities, research and development of training curricula that reflect emerging best practices and Evidence Based Practices, delivery of classroom training, participation in committees and projects that support the development of a learning culture and enhancement to the RAP program.

    The program model provides acute detoxification and early clinical stabilization services as we help clients develop community-based linkages to outpatient supports and substance use disorder treatment providers. The individuals treated within this program will be linked upon discharge to a range of services within the DPH continuum of care for substance use conditions. RAP provides administrative, medical, clinical, and non-clinical services. Its mission is to provide quality client-centered care and recovery-oriented treatment services.

    Work Schedule : The selected candidate(s) will work 40 hours per week from 8:30AM - 5:00PM. The days off are Sunday and Saturday.

    Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all-inclusive) :

    • Under the supervision of the RAP Program Director, coordinates day-to-day professional development planning and implementation of training activities in the RAP.

    • Facilitates training on Evidence Based practices such as Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, QPR (suicide prevention) and trainings that promote diversity and inclusion (e.g., LGBTQ+).

    • Supervises reporting staff, if applicable. This entails provision of routine 1:1 supervision, performance evaluation, and support for reporting staff's ongoing professional development.

    • Documents training adherence and completion according to RAP guidelines to ensure that accurate, complete, and current information is available for managers to assist them in maintaining professional education standards. Assists in the review and analysis of training data in order to determine program effectiveness and to make recommendations for changes in content, presentation, and demonstration of skills, if needed.

    • Evaluates, reviews, and revises curriculum and educational materials as an ongoing process to ensure that content reflects current best practices, supports rehabilitation and recovery and the mission and values of the agency.

    • Participates in designing and implementing an annual training needs assessment as well as development of the RAP training plan based on assessed needs. Confers with the facility management staff, Learning and Development (L&D) staff, and other stakeholders to determine training requirements, availability of resources, and the criteria for evaluation.

    • Responds to inquiries from DMH staff and others related to professional development and off-site training opportunities.

    • Attends meetings and conferences, and other planning forums in order to maintain a high level of competence in clinical best practices.

    • Writes reports, memoranda, training announcements, etc.

    • Performs other related duties as required, including, but not limited to managing registration, applying for CEUs, recruiting speakers, and making all necessary arrangements related to carrying out assigned training programs.

    Required Qualifications :

    • Knowledge of adult learning theory.

    • Solid skills in public presentation and virtual presentations through software tools (e.g., Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

    • Knowledge and experience with a wide range of training methods and techniques.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

    • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams.

    • Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, etc. governing assigned hospital/facility activities.

    Program Requirements :
    • Minimum of one (1) year experience working with clients with primary substance use disorders; knowledge of substance use and treatment systems.
    • Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
    Preferred Qualifications :
    • Professional licensure in a human service field including, but not limited to LCSW, LICSW, LMHC, License Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC).
    • Ability to demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward individuals with substance use disorders.
    • Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and superior attention to detail.
    • Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
    About the Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP) :
    The Department of Mental Health (DMH) in collaboration with the Department of Public Health (DPH) Bureau of Substance Addiction Services operates a statewide Recovery from Addictions Program (RAP) for individuals civilly committed by the courts for substance use treatment for up to 90 days (Section 35 commitment).

    The program model will provide acute detoxification and early clinical stabilization services as we help clients develop community-based linkages to outpatient supports and substance use disorder treatment providers. The individuals treated within this program will be linked upon discharge to a range of services within the DPH continuum of care for substance use conditions. RAP provides administrative, medical, clinical, and non-clinical services. Its mission to provide quality client-centered care and recovery-oriented treatment.

    Qualifications:

    MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: At least three years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a Master's degree in social work. Based on assignment to second-level supervisory positions, at least one year of experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

    SUBSTITUTIONS:

    - A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required nonsupervisory experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience.

    - No substitution will be permitted for the required supervisory experience. One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION:

    A Master's or higher degree in social work is required.

    LICENSES:

    - Licensure as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required.

    - Based on assignment, travel may be required. Those employees who elect to use a motor vehicle for travel must have a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's license or the equivalent from another state.
