Job Overview:


The Soft Count Manager reports to the Director of Finance and is responsible for the planning, organizing and managing all functions required to safeguard the assets of the casino and ensure that the gaming machine, kiosk, and table game drop and counts are performed and executed in accordance with established policies, procedures and gaming regulations.

Must be self-motivated, detail orientated, and able to work successfully without a lot of supervision.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Directs staff in meeting and exceeding performance expectations by establishing and maintaining a positive work environment and effective team member relations
  • Responsible for compliance with all Illinois Gaming Board regulatory policies and procedures, cash handling procedures as related to the drop and count, overall responsibility for the drop and count room operations, including controlling expenses and budget performance
  • Prepares schedules for all subordinate positions according to company needs and approves or denies paid time off requests
  • Prepares supervisor evaluations and reviews count team member evaluations
  • Rotates assigned duties and observes staff performing normal job duties, offering positive and corrective feedback as needed
  • Monitors employees in order to assess training needs and coordinates training as needed
  • Evaluates team member performance to reward or deliver disciplinary/corrective counseling
  • Implements employee training programs for the department
  • Responsible for overall equipment procedures and maintenance including submitting maintenance work orders for repairs and modifications
  • Responsible for the administration of the supply level for the drop and count rooms
  • Completes operational paperwork, confirming compliance with approved accounting procedures and prepares daily paperwork for Audit department
  • Maintains general awareness of gaming operation at all times and complies with security policies and procedures in order to secure company assets
  • Exercises good problem solving and organization skills
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Related Field AND two (2) years Supervisory experience required
  • OR Four (4) years' experience in a Management position required
  • OR Four (4) years' experience in a Supervisory position with Wind Creek Hospitality required
  • Five (5) years supervisory experience in a casino Count Roomrequired
  • Must be knowledgeable of the procedural and control requirements of the Cash Operations Manual, Illinois Gaming Board Minimum Internal Controls and Wind Creek Chicago Southland Internal Controls related to the drop and count of electronic gaming machines, ticket redemption kiosks, and table games
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel programs (a skills test may be administered)
  • Must possess good problem solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a high pressure and fast paced environment
  • Exposure to casino related environmental factors including but not limited to excessive noise
  • Ability to adequately and successfully perform all aspects of this position, including lifting 50 pounds with no assistance
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Willing to travel and participate in training as recommended or required
  • Must have an Occupational License (or the ability to obtain and maintain a license) pursuant to the Illinois Gaming Act and remain in good standing with the Illinois Gaming Board as a requirement for this position
