Job Position:

Material Handler/Production Helper


Job Location:

West Chicago, IL


Reports To:

Shift Supervisor


Job Summary:


Ensures that proper packaging materials are supplied to production, finished products are removed on a timely basis and properly staged, and that scrap and trash is always removed from production areas.

The Utility Person/Production Helper will conform to all GMPs and will be aware of all food safety standards, and quality procedures.


Core Job Responsibilities:


  • Adheres to all good manufacturing practices (GMP), food safety, HACCP and SQF process requirements; rectify and/or report any and all noncompliance to Management or the SQF practitioner immediately.
  • Reports to all scheduled shifts and attends meetings as required
  • Ensures that all adequate vital packaging supplies and any other needed supplies are supplied to the Inspectors/Packers. Ensuring to only bring in enough supplies such as cartons to last for two hours to prevent injury and/or contamination of supplies.
  • Wraps and tags all products produced according to standards for specific products. Including stacking and wrapping product(s) for shipment. Including but not limited to code dating.
  • Removes all finished products from the Foam and Print areas in a timely manner.
  • Removes previous shifts' finished production to appropriate areas in the warehouse.
  • Bails the cardboard and plastic balers as needed.
  • Gathers and removes all cardboard and plastic scrap bales form holding areas to the designated area in the warehouse.
  • Maintains a neat and orderly area for knockdowns and film in the warehouse.
  • Cleans designated areas assigned by shift Supervisor.

  • Successfully completes any added assignments and/ or special projects assigned by the Shift Supervisor.

Competencies:


  • Prior forklift experience required. Will be certified on site.
  • Qualified to operate machinery or equipment as required to perform job.

Provision for Material Handler/Production Helper:


  • In the event of the absence of the Utility/Production Helper due to vacations the Shift Supervisor will request a Utility/Production Helper fill in from another shift to cover shift or utilize a trained and qualified backup.

Qualifications:


  • Receive a "pass" on a preemployment physical and drug screen
  • Work an 12 hour shift while standing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, grasping and lifting throughout the entire shift. Hours are 12pm12am OR 12am12pm.
  • Requires the manual movement of repair parts and tools that may weight up to 25 pounds.
  • Working indoors in a manufacturing environment that is not air conditioned.
  • Wear PPE while working which includes hairnet, hearing protection and safety glasses with side guards.

Education - High School Diploma or GED
