Job Description:

  • Summary:
  • This position is responsible for overseeing the administrative management and daytoday implementation of multiple research studies including sponsored research and pilot research (from startup funds) for the Principal Investigator.
  • The studies take place in domestically and globally including in South Africa.
  • Essential Functions:
  • Conduct Research Projects: Oversee day-to-day aspects of multiple federally funded research and clinical services projects. Function as the primary project liaison to domestic and international (South African) research teams who involved in research design and implementation. Manage all activities related to the day-to-day functioning of multiple projects. These include randomized controlled trials or quasi-experimental research trials that including biological clinical data. Coordinate and lead regular meetings with staff and investigators, including at the international sites. Establish project protocols, identify key action items required of team members, track progress, and ensure successful completion. Active international travel will be required with an ability to navigate diverse and challenging international community setting including highly impoverished communities.

Goals include:
Successful completion of project aims, objectives and data collection. Resolution of any barriers, conflicts or complications that arise. Ensure that all projects stay on schedule. New Sponsored Research and

Program Development:
Develop and write proposals based on the past and current research and program agenda for new research study proposals. Research Quality and Monitoring: Ensure establishment and functioning of data systems including procedures for ethical data collection; secure and robust data management experience; and analyses for continued grant funding and publications.

Independently create and oversee implementation of each project's procedures for collecting data, assessing outcomes, managing and storing data, and conducting statistical analyses; ensure accurate program files and statistical analysis of data.

Provide direction to research staff and/or data core for correction of erroneous data and data irregularities, ensure accurate computer files and ensure accurate analyses.

Experience with statistical and analytical software programs for mixed-methods research such as STATA, SPSS, Mplus, AMOS, and NVivo is preferred.


Goals include:

Accurate and reliable data and program files, statistical analyses including if possible familiarity- with trial analysis, qualitative analysis, and preparation of study results for publication or future grants.

Sets Research &

Program Agenda:
In coordination with the PI, strategically plan the operationalization projects. Goals including developing of systems and protocols and manuals to assist in on time operationalization of projects. Community Outreach and Internal/External Visibility of Research: Support the PI in collaborating and building relationships with community partners to identify partner needs and priorities and effectively implement research studies and programs.

Assist Principal Investigator with report and manuscript preparation; conference abstract analysis, writing and presentation preparation; presentation of results; grant reporting and Institutional Review Board documentation across all studies.

Conduct analyses to ensure data is of high quality, complete and ready to formulate analytical directions for products such as conference presentations and manuscripts.

Summarize study information and progress in written form; present results verbally at scientific meetings; draft manuscripts; document protocols, modifications to protocols, and research progress in written form. Supervision: Supervise the project-specific hires and graduate assistants or research fellows.

Manage the performance of each employee through regular coaching and supervision, including participating in all mandatory Responsible for providing training and oversight to study team including assisting in training of international study team in implementation of project, responsiveness to serious unexpected and adverse events, participant recruitment, in line with project milestones, and adherence to project milestones and work plans.

  • The worker normally performs their job indoors in an office environment with fieldwork travel necessary for projects. The worker must be prepared and willing to conduct international travel for the job.
