Transportation Routing Technician:


  • Lorton Center

Description

  • Performs a wide variety of moderately specialized, complex operational, technical and administrative, and logístical tasks duties in support of transportation programs routing and planning activities; conducts assigned areawide transportation technical reporting duties; maintains data in computer assisted routing software.

Qualifications

Required:


  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) certificate.
  • Five (5) years of progressively more responsible experience in office clerical, scheduling, routing, dispatching, or related field, three (3) years of which shall have been in a transportationrelated.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, as required.
  • Knowledge of transportation procedures, operations, scheduling, and routing strategies.
  • Knowledge of FCPS school locations and street and road systems for the Fairfax County, DC, and Maryland area.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to student transportation.
  • Ability to plan and implement efficient routes.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Ability to utilize computer and applicable transportation and office suite software.
  • Ability to collect, synthesize and report data using appropriate computer technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Preferred:


  • Experience as a bus driver or attendant.
  • Knowledge of computerized transportation routing systems.
  • Knowledge of school transportation.

Salary Range
- $57,238 - $96,618
