- Opens all practice mail daily, processes, and/or distributes.
- Answers patient billing questions.
- Process and post patient payments.
- Research and resolve incorrect patient addresses.
- Responsible for assisting patients with resolving COB issues.
- Responsible for phone calls to and from members, providers, and other insurance carriers to gather coordination of benefits.
- Assists with other patient service responsibilities as requested.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Understanding of related medical terminology.
- Strong interpersonal customer service skills, including effective listening, clear verbal and written communication, problem solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to master multiple software systems to input and retrieve data.
- Mastery of ophthalmology and retina terminology.
- Comprehensive knowledge and compliance of HIPAA rules and regulations in the dissemination of patient Protected Health Information.
- Previous experience in a Retina practice.
- Bilingual – Spanish.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally in person and via telephone.
- Frequent use of computer terminal to read and write.
- Frequent use of a telephone.
- Frequent reaching, sitting, and repetitive hand movements,
- Lifting up to 5lbs.
