Job Summary:


The Flow Monitoring Specialist performs skilled field and office work where considerable judgment and initiative are required to operate and maintain wastewater flow monitoring systems.

Duties include installing, caring for, and repairing flow monitoring, rain gauge equipment, and weekly analyzing recorded flow data. Work also includes troubleshooting flow channels, flow monitor devices, sensors, cables, data, and graphs. The position reports to an assigned manager.

Technical

  • Demonstrates proficiency in exporting and combining rain and flow data to perform Inflow & Infiltration analysis
  • Provides inspection of wastewater flow monitoring sites, diagnosis of equipment malfunction, and repairs to flow monitoring equipment
  • Provides equipment troubleshooting, testing, repairing, installation, calibration, and maintenance equipment in the field or maintenance shop, as required and by the manufacturer's recommendations, using manual and automated methods to validate flow meter readings
  • Provides troubleshooting, testing, repair, installation, calibration, and maintenance of wastewater flow monitoring sites, channels, equipment, flow data, and communication network
  • Utilizes Microsoft Excel and PowerBi to summarize rain and flow data into meaningful dashboards and reports

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics, or a closely related field and three (3) years directly related experience in construction, maintenance, electrical, electronics, process control wastewater monitoring, and compliance activities; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Complete Confined Space Training as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to translate wastewater atlas maps and wastewater catchment basins
  • Able to work with Asset Management personnel and GIS Administrators
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power BI
  • Handling multiple tasks and prioritization
  • Planning and organizing
  • Presentations of data findings
  • Ability to use small hand tools and measuring devices
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work Environment: 75% inside a climate-controlled building; 25% outside, including driving.

Physical Requirements:

The essential functions of the job require sitting approximately six (6) hours per day, standing approximately one (1) hour per day, and walking approximately one (1) hour per day.

The job also requires frequent fine manipulations, grasping, reaching, and repetitive motion, with occasional lifting/carrying of objects weighing up to 15 pounds.

On rare occasions, the work requires bending/stooping and lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 44 pounds.
