Job Description:


The Gift Planning Officer enhances awareness and use of gift planning vehicles as a means of supporting Franklin & Marshall College.

This position is also responsible for the cultivation and solicitation of assigned prospects, the management of the internal systems of the Office of Gift Planning and the implementation of a comprehensive gift planning marketing and stewardship program.


Essential Functions:

  • Cultivate relationships with approximately assigned prospects, traveling frequently to meet with donor prospects and solicit both outright (major) and planned gifts.
  • Formulate strategies for building relationships with donor prospects, inspiring philanthropy and soliciting gifts to the College.
  • Provide gift planning technical assistance to prospects and frontline fundraisers; oversee and communicate with attorneys and personal representatives of estates where F&M has been named as a beneficiary.
  • Manage the internal systems of the Office of Gift Planning including monthly gift planning progress reports and pipeline forecast reports, and marketing.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 47 years of previous fundraising experience, gift planning or equivalent experience in estate administration and/or financial planning.
  • Ability and willingness to provide excellent service and to work in a collegial manner with students, faculty and staff, and other constituencies is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or designation in law, finance, estate, or financial planning such as JD, CPA, CFP.
