Qualifications and Requirements:

  • DOJ Live Scan Clearance
  • Tuberculosis Clearance or Risk Assessment (completed by a licensed healthcare provider)
  • Mandatory School Employee Training
  • Master's Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, or a related field
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
  • Three Years of Experience working with student with behavior needs and related disorders in a school setting
  • Split Position Between Two Campus Sites
  • Both Located in Modesto, CA

Summary of Position:

Work under the supervision of the Superintendent/CEO and in collaboration with the site Principals, the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides direct services and consultation to students, staff, and parents to provide positive ways for working successfully with students who have difficulties conforming to acceptable behavior patterns.

Oversees the development and implementation of behavior assessments and intervention plans; and establishes and maintains ongoing relationships with outside agencies that serve student and their families.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the implementation and fidelity of behavioral plans/programs for identified students
  • Provide professional development training on behavioral techniques, disabilities, and other determined areas of need staff
  • Build and maintain strong and effective communication skills with parents, staff, and agencies
  • Identify social/emotional/behavioral curriculum for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) including developing and monitoring Behavior Support Plans (BSP)
  • Develops and/or monitors school procedures to assure compliance with governmental
regulations, codes, restrictions, and reporting requirements concerning behavioral interventions and emergencies

  • Processes referrals and responds to referrals of students for behavior intervention services
  • Conducts Functional Analysis Assessments and collaborates with site staff in the development of the Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP)
  • Assists in the development and implementation of effective programs for children with serious disturbances of behavior
  • Consults with school staff and parents/guardians on matters related to student behavior
  • Supervises, evaluates, and trains Behavior Technicians
  • As required to maintain certification, participates in professional growth activities such as conferences, classes, staff meetings, and program visitations
  • Prepares a variety of professionally written documents and reports in a timely manner.
  • Conduct behavior, social and developmental assessment.
  • Ensures the use of evidencebased, positive approaches to address the behavioral needs of the students served
  • Oversees the implementation of crisis management procedures while also providing ongoing coaching and support in the use of crisis management principles.
  • Provide a loving and safe learning environment
  • Track critical student information and maintain accurate student records
  • Work with the student's teacher and other support staff in a positive and constructive manner
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support for GVA mission, vision, and goals
  • Comply with all Great Valley Academy policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:
Employees in this position must be able/have the ability to:

  • Stands, walks, bends over, kneels, and crouches, reaches overhead, grasps, pushes and pulls
  • Drive between campuses on a regular and scheduled basis
  • Moves, lifts and/or carries up to 25 pounds to waist height
  • Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping)
  • Sits, walks, or stands for extended periods of time
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate computer keyboard or typewriter, standard office equipment, and use a telephone
  • Distinguish colors
  • Demonstrate normal depth perception
  • Read and understand rules and policies, labels, and instructions
  • Verbal communications, including the ability to speak and hear at normal room levels and on the telephone

Work Environment:

  • Employees in this position will be required to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Employees will come in direct contact with students, parents, school site staff and public.
