    • Job Purpose

    The Automation Technician (AT) position is responsible for: identifying, designing, deploying and maintaining all industrial technology for automation and control solutions in the manufacturing operation. The industrial technology will be used to improve safety, quality, production through, waste reduction, and continuous improvements. The types of industrial technology will include, PLC's, servos, HMI, SCADA, MES, robotics, AI, vision systems, optical sorting and instrumentation devices.

    • Job Accountabilities / Key Results Area
    1. Providing technical support for all manufacturing processes and systems in plant automation, electrical controls, robotics and instrumentation.
    2. Develop and adhere to all engineering hardware and software standards for equipment integration, control hardware design and software development for both internal upgrades and new equipment installations.
    3. Develop & maintain an equipment reliability and optimal performance program including CMMS configuration for work order generation for preventative & predictive maintenance.
    4. Develop software applications and hardware architecture for plant floor control system integration.
    5. Manage all software regulatory compliance to ensure all licenses, permits, certificates and approval are obtained and compliant.
    6. Perform employee training for equipment operation, cleaning and maintenance on site. Explain the function and performance of the equipment in classroom events and hands on at the machinery.
    7. Develop process narratives and functional descriptions to illustrate new process and control system improvements and equipment and process integration.
    8. Implement Continuous Improvement solutions and champion KPI optimization efforts with technology, automation, and communication systems. Drive Operations and Production KPI improvement.
    9. Deploy systems and procedures for plant floor ERP, PLC, HMI & MES backup / recovery and change management.
    10. Promote a safe working environment through compliance and understanding of Health & Safety, rules/standards and corporate policies and procedures.
    • Minimum Essential Qualifications and Technical Competencies

    Formal Education (To include any specialised education needed.)

    Bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical engineering.

    Management & Leadership training.

    OSHA / WorkSafe BC / Electrical & Building Code

    Food Safety, SQF, GMP's, CFIA, OSHA, WorkSafe BC, Health & Safety regulations

    Work Experience

    Total Work Experience: 2 plus years

    Experience in the food industry, CPG, or manufacturing industry.

    Experience in production management.

    Experience in Training and Change Management

    Skills / Knowledge (To include any specialised skill or knowledge needed.)

    Good computer skills (AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel)

    Knowledge of advanced PLC programming including Allan Bradley, ControlLogix/RS Logix, Siemens S7.

    Knowledge of robot systems (ABB, Delta, Fanuc).

    Basic knowledge of computer networking, Ethernet connections, TCP/IP protocol.

    Experience with the use of CMMS, statistical analysis software and AutoCAD.

    Business awareness and acumen, with an understanding of financial management

    Excellent communication and organisational skills

    Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills

    Fluent in spoken and written English

    Valid Drivers License

    • Salary: up to $90,000 per year
