Department of Defense - Serco has a great opportunity for you This Entry-level Marketing Public Relations Specialist will work with a dynamic team in the Acquisition, Program Management & Logistics Business Unit supporting the My Service Benefits (MSB) program.

Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact towards our military defense.


Our team provides marketing and communications support for a government contract that manages three official websites, which contain benefits information, planning calculators, and education and employment resources for Army and Air Force service members and their families.


This position is contingent upon your ability to maintain/transfer an active NACI clearance.

This position is 100% Remote in the National Capital Region._**In this role, you will:
  • Assist in the development of strategic communications and campaign plans
  • Design, write and edit various communications products, such as collaterals, articles, news releases, and original website content
  • Help design mobilefriendly webpage formats and improve content and page display with a mobile first approach
  • Assist in managing MSB social media accounts, including calendar planning, content curation, online engagement, and approvals monitoring
  • Assist with SEO improvement activities such as writing meta descriptions, title tags, and keywords, and editing open graph tags, across all three websites
  • Monitor military benefitsrelated media and track changes in law and regulations affecting benefits
  • Work crossfunctionally with multiple MSB teams on various efforts
  • Travel to conduct presentations and briefings to small and large groups of various audiences and stakeholders.

  • A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university, in Marketing, Communications, Advertising/Public Relations, Journalism, Business, English, or related field.
  • Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience and proficiency in marketing and strategic communications support.
  • Experience or familiarity with content management systems, web analytics services, online collaboration tools, SEO, and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with social media, scheduling, content curation, engagement, and planning.
  • The ability to multitask, manage competing priorities, and meet project deadlines.
  • An exceptional writing, spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills.
  • Experience presenting to groups, from 10 to 100 people, inperson and in virtual environments.
  • An effective presentation, communication, customer service, critical thinking, interpersonal, and problemsolving skills.
  • To be selfdisciplined with respect to remote work, available during core business hours for meetings and reach back, as well as able to work weekends when required.
  • The ability to travel two weekends a month, and occasional holidays. Travel is also required periodically during the week. When travel is required over a weekend or holiday, a flexible work schedule will be followed to allow for work life balance.

Additional desired experience and skills:

  • Current or former Military Spouse or Veteran, with prior experience working with DoD and a thorough knowledge of various aspects of military life and benefits.
  • Experience working on a remote team.
  • Experience or familiarity with Google Analytics, Search Console, and Data Studio, and Canva.
  • Located close to a major airport, to make travel more efficient and accessible.
