Introduction:

Aoka Engineering is a third party building department service and software provider that works to assist local jurisdictions.

We are looking to hire a fire inspector that can perform a variety of inspections related to inspecting buildings, facilities, and properties to ensure compliance with fire codes, regulations, and safety standards.

You will conduct inspections, identify fire hazards, and provide guidance to property owners and occupants on fire prevention and safety measures in accordance with relevant codes.


Qualification:


  • High school diploma or equivalent GED certificate; some college or associate's degree preferred
  • At least 7 years of experience working as a fire inspector previously
  • Updated relevant ICC certifications. A Fire inspector or Fire Marshal is highly desirable.
  • Indepth understanding of reading construction plans and specifications and able to compare them with construction in progress effectively
  • Effective understanding and communication skills; verbal and written
  • Able to keep records in an organized and legible manner
  • Communicate effectively with local jurisdictions, contractors, engineers, other inspectors and any other relevant personal as needed
  • Able to easily and timely coordinate with relevant departments, local jurisdictions and contractors

Responsibilities:


  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, facilities, and properties to assess fire hazards, fire protection systems, and emergency preparedness measures.
  • Inspect fire detection and suppression systems, including fire alarms, sprinkler systems, fire extinguishers, and emergency lighting, to ensure they are properly installed, maintained, and operational.
  • Identify and document fire code violations and unsafe conditions, and work with property owners, managers, and occupants to address deficiencies and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Review building plans and construction documents to verify compliance with fire codes and standards prior to occupancy.
  • Investigate complaints and reports of fire hazards, unsafe conditions, and violations of fire codes, and take appropriate enforcement actions as necessary.
  • Educate property owners, occupants, and the public on fire safety practices, evacuation procedures, and the importance of fire prevention measures.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records of inspections, findings, enforcement actions, and other related activities.
  • Collaborate with other fire department personnel, building inspectors, and regulatory agencies to coordinate inspections, share information, and enforce fire codes and regulations.
  • Stay current with changes in fire codes, regulations, and industry standards through training, professional development, and participation in professional organisation.
  • Participate in fire investigations and emergency response activities as needed.
  • May need to provide supervision to lower level personnel.

Compensation and Benefits:

- $60,000 - $90,000 Yearly Salary Depending on Qualifications
