    JobSummary: This role will be a key member of the logistics team and support inbound transportation from Vendors to B&N DCs, and outbound transportation from B&N DCs to stores, vendors, return vendor, etc. The role will also supervise the logistics coordinators team to support vendors to ship freight to arrive at DCs by the expected PO Delivery dates.

    This position will oversee all aspects of the logistics operations while monitoring the workflow of the department, ensuring that all objectives are met timely and work closely and effectively with management to maintain service and cost standards through effective communication with staff. Create a positive work environment and coach the team members to develop professionally.

    WhatYouDo:

    Work with New Publishers and Carriers to help them get set up with our TMS (Transportation Management System)

    Accountable for entering Freight Rates for New Carriers into our TMS and updating Rates for Existing Carriers.

    Oversee the appointments and scheduling of all dropped trailers, live unloads, and import containers.

    Research and track Hot POs and make sure they arrive by the DC due date, as requested by Merchandising team.

    Identify New TL and LTL Carriers

    LTL and TL Carrier Contract and Rate Negotiations, including Inbound and Outbound shipments

    Implement New Carrier Contracts across all BN systems and platforms including audit.

    Key Decision maker on the performance of TL, and LTL carriers and Fleet (Tractors / Contract Drivers) and logistics intermediaries in the Inbound and Outbound transportation space to achieve optimum delivery performance.

    Oversee and ensure carrier compliance with company policies/procedures for product transit and delivery.

    Develop business partnerships with TL and LTL carriers and third-party logistics service providers (i.e., trailers, storage, etc.) to ensure capacity and service levels as planned/targeted by management.

    Develop relationships with key members of LP, Finance, Supply Chain, BN DC Operations, Inventory Control, and Store Operations/Communications.

    Knowledge of the LTL delivery carrier network operations, processes, pricing, and technology.

    Accountable for how the business progresses to meet and exceed established performance standards.

    Interview, select and develop direct staff to strengthen knowledge and development.

    Management of the External Partnership for Freight Audit for LTL and TL ship modes

    Understand DC operations be able to identify delays and improvement opportunities for BN Carrier Network

    Knowledge&Experience:

    Bachelors degree in supply chain, logistics or related field.

    10+ years of related experience in logistics, transportation and/or retail/distribution center finance

    5+ years of applicable business experience with an in-depth knowledge of LTL and TL delivery networks

    5+ years of practical experience leading and developing a team (5 or more direct reports)

    Working knowledge of systems related to transportation and finance in a retail environment a plus.

    Ability to analyze, summarize large amounts of data and identify trends and provide accurate reporting.

    Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make recommendations based upon detailed analysis.

    Proven leadership skills and ability to assume increasing responsibilities in a rapidly changing environment.

    Business knowledge and proven experience of managing carriers.

    Attention to detail and accuracy and ability to troubleshoot issues.

    Works well under deadlines, self-starter, innovative, team-oriented, customer-focused,

    WMS, MS Office, and TMS (Transportation Management System) experience strongly recommended.

    Excellent communication skills as you will be working closely with the Publishers/Vendors, Carriers, Sales and Operations Planning/Inventory, vendors, DC Operations, Shipping and Receiving teams and Logistics Managers.

    Flexible regarding work schedule when needed.
