Shift: 3rd Shift, Sunday - Friday, 11pm - 7am


Job Summary:

Operates gas heated atmosphere, hardening, and tempering furnaces for the heat treating of a wide variety of products. Receives and stores a variety of forgings and enters them into system. Conducts final inspection of products.


Key Job Responsibilities:


  • Safety: Perform preoperation checks for machines. Perform safety inspections required for individual machines and associated equipment. (i.e., furnaces, grinder).
  • Production:
  • Heat treats and tempers various metal products and parts.
  • Monitors Heat Treat furnace safety and operating instruments and control panels.
  • Perform grinding, blasting, dipping, labeling, reporting, packing, clipping operations as needed to support production.
  • Perform Magnaflux and Rockwell tests as required.
  • Operate a forklift to transport materials from inside and outside the plant to and from workstations and storage areas.
  • Receives and stores incoming components, track, handle, and inspect outsource heat treating.
  • Inspect finished tools visually and with the use of gauges, micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Quality: Inspect parts to meet established ISO requirements.
  • Delivery: Process shop orders to meet established due dates.
  • Cost: Responsible for tracking and problem solving of the materials used and efficient equipment used to reduce cost.
  • Inventory: Responsible for cycle counts and management of WIP and components (i.e., forgings, semifinished product).
  • Lean: Participate in lean events and utilize lean processes in daily duties
  • TPM: Perform daily required TPM on associated equipment.
  • 5S: Perform daily required 5S activities for work area.
  • Metrics: Perform daily activities associated with gathering and posting established metrics.
  • Data: Accurate and timely recording of required data (i.e. Production, quality etc.

Required Experience:


  • A high school diploma or general equivalency diploma
  • Completion of basic math, blueprint reading and gaugereading training
  • The ability to understand written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors and coworkers.
  • Forklift's operator's license
  • Confined space certification
  • Basic Computer Skills
