WAGE RANGE:
$ $28.65/hour


SUMMARY

Under general supervision, this individual will be responsible for coordinating and assisting in all safety activities for the company in order to maintain our core business value of Safety.

The Safety Coordinator should be well-versed in OSHA/EPA regulations and industry best practices.

Your work will be focused on prevention but also reacting to challenges and demands in a changing environment from multiply customers or colleagues.

The Safety Coordinator is responsible for the management, implementation and/or supervision of activities that are created to reduce the risk and frequency of incidents within the workplace.

The Safety Coordinators' job entails working closely with employees, supervisors and management within an organization to develop procedures and/or policies that ensure the safety of workers at all times.

Effective coordination and collaboration with Human Resources, Housing Development, Property Management and commercial property partners.

This position will focus in 5 major areas:

  • Safety and Loss Prevention program, policies and procedures
  • Incident prevention and investigation
  • Inspections and audits
  • Safety program documentation
  • Trainingsafety and loss prevention specific

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Identify health and safety hazards at building and construction sites and determine proper courses of action to mitigate hazards and analyze situations accurately and adopt timely and effective recommendations
  • Work with operational supervisors to assure that the company is in compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, labor codes, industry/company standards and contract safety requirements.
  • Communicate safety related documents with field and office staff including but not limited to contracts, specifications, drawings, standards, codes and regulations such as CCR 8, 29 and 30 CFR, ANSI or ASSE.
  • Develops and provides individual counseling, onsite and classroom training to staff on safety practices and policies, incident prevention techniques and incident reporting;
  • Develops safety training materials and newsletters
  • Conducts safety meetings on requirements of applicable Federal, State and local regulations.
  • Perform and respond to on call duties for emergencies, working after normal business hours, night or weekend work as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Proficient experience with PowerPoint, Excel, Word and auditor safety software (Safety Culture). Able to perform formulas and charts on excel spreadsheets and add/embed video clips in PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines. Ability to identify hazards and provide solutions to minimize the risks of the hazards identified
  • Ability to research, read, retain/recall and understand technical documents such as OSHA/ANSI/ASTM/HUD regulations and standards
  • Ability and desire to train and/or instruct others in safety policies and procedures
  • Excellent organization skills and ability to meet short timelines and deadlines set by others. Ability to work efficiently, effectively and independently with little supervision
  • Selfstarter, selfmotivator, with a sincere interest in the safety of others
  • Ability to perform math calculations at or above an algebra level.
  • Ability to relate to other employees, client, or agency personnel in a diplomatic fashion about sensitive issues
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to conduct safety meetings, and/or speak in front of others
  • Working knowledge of safe work practices and safety regulations
  • Ability to provide good customer service to internal and external customers
  • Ability to respond to emergency events and incidents after hours, weekends and nights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a high school diploma/GED but at least a two year degree is preferred. OSHA 30 hour required and CPR/First A
