- Perform inpatient and outpatient diagnostic cardiac ultrasounds adhering to clinical and quality guidelines.
- Assist with TEE procedures in various settings.
- Responsible for imaging pediatric hearts, using critical thinking skills to produce high-quality studies.
- Learn and adapt to different ultrasound equipment and protocols.
- Collaborate with caregivers and peers across the organization.
- Independently conduct normal and complex pediatric echocardiographic exams.
- Understand and apply requirements for study completion, measurements, and calculations.
- Proficient in the operation of ultrasound equipment and physics of ultrasound.
- Advanced knowledge in anatomy and able to perform advanced calculations.
- Assist physicians with TEEs and write preliminary reports.
- Participate in professional development activities and echo lectures.
- Precept new hires and participate in training activities.
- Engage in QA/QC of echo studies.
- Requirements:
Graduate or equivalent required. - Knowledge of congenital anomalies required for Pedi echo techs.
- Certifications: Certified Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer from ARDMS, or Certified Registered Cardiac Sonographer from CCI, or Certified Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer from CCI. Registered in Pediatrics Echo by ARDMS. BLS certification required.

Summary:
Responsible for conducting sedated and non-sedated echocardiograms, stress echocardiograms, providing TEE support to physicians, and performing pre and postoperative TTE on normal and congenital hearts in a patient population ranging from neonate to adult.
The CHRISTUS Children's Hospital, established in 1959, is the first children's hospital in South-Central Texas, located downtown. It serves over 70,000 children annually from San Antonio, South Texas, and beyond. The hospital, in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, is the only academic children's hospital in San Antonio. The hospital offers specialized services ranging from Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care to Children's Emergency Services, deformities treatments, Heart Center, asthma program, Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, and maternal fetal medicine services.
Responsibilities:
Perform Independently:
o Normal and Complex echocardiographic exams.o 2D exams with the ability to recognize normal and major complex abnormal structures.o Doppler exams and recognize normal and abnormal patterns.
