    Description
    Summary: This position is primarily responsible for performing general and vascular ultrasound exams. Exams must be performed according to departmental protocol and in accordance with the standards as set by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) and departmental protocol under the direction of a radiologist in a manner to provide exceptional customer service.

    Duties:

    1. Obtains patient history, explains standard procedures and addresses patient concerns.
    2. Produces sonographic views of specific areas as required by the departmental procedures.
    3. Assures all exams have proper authorization for ordered study.
    4. Prepares patients for ultrasound procedures utilizing established protocols for patient care and safety
    5. Prepares patient for exam.
    6. Insures equipment is in working order.
    7. Monitors (quality control) their own exams and the technical quality by setting proper sonography techniques for each view/exam.
    8. Performs clerical functions as required including answering the telephone, , copying scanning and faxing, etc.
    9. Reports equipment malfunctions to Radiology Supervisor.
    10. Reports Quality issues to the Medical Director, the Imaging Services Manager and the QC committee
    11. Process routine paperwork.
    12. Maintains Ultrasound room clean and organized.
    13. Stock necessary medical supplies.
    14. Exercise tact and courtesy when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians and co-workers.
    15. Able to work efficiently under pressure.
    16. Assists other modalities when available.
    17. Maintain strict confidentiality.
    18. Other duties as assigned.
    Education and Experience: Minimum high school education or equivalent.

    Two years' experience in Vascular Ultrasound in hospital or clinical setting,

    Requires completion of an accredited ultrasound program

    Current CPR/Basic Cardiac Life Support Certification required.

    Must have knowledge of medical terminology.

    Bilingual ability in English/Spanish preferred.

    Must have one of the following credentials:

    Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)

    Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS)

    Registered Technologist Vascular Sonography [RT(VS)]

    Computer Skills: Knowledge of Word Processing software, database software, spreadsheet and Internet software. RIS/PAC program knowledge is required. EMR software experience is preferred.

    Physical Demands: Requires manual dexterity, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, walking, lifting up to 40 lbs. Close vision and ability to adjust focus
