    Main Purpose of Job

    This position will fill the role of Implementation Project Officer at the Center for Restoration Finance within DNR's Chesapeake and Coastal Service. This position will manage multi-year, multi-partnered targeted restoration programs affiliated with the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, EPA's Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant, as well as Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding. The Position will provide grants management and project support to grantees as well as technical support to grantees and Unit staff. \r

    The projects that are managed under this position further multiple Chesapeake Bay restoration goals including improvement in water quality, habitat, and ecological uplift; Mitigating negative impacts of climate change to vulnerable communities; Providing outdoor educational opportunities for students; and ensuring funding is reaching under-engaged communities throughout the state.\r

    POSITION DUTIES

    The Department of Natural Resources, Office of Restoration Finance in the Chesapeake & Coastal Service, is currently accepting applications for a Natural Resources Planner III.� This position will fill the role of Implementation Project Officer, managing multi-year, multi-partnered targeted restoration projects affiliated with the Chesapeake and Atlantic Coastal Bays Trust Fund, EPA's Chesapeake Bay Implementation Grant, as well as Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) funding.� The Position will provide grants management and project support to grantees as well as technical support to grantees and Unit staff.� The projects that are managed under this position further multiple Chesapeake Bay restoration goals including improvement in water quality, habitat, and ecological uplift; Mitigating negative impacts of climate change to vulnerable communities; Providing outdoor educational opportunities for students; and ensuring funding is reaching under-engaged communities throughout the state.�\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Education:�� A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or�university in an environmental science or natural resources planning, management or development.\r
    Experience:�Three years of experience in natural resources planning or applied environmental science.\r
    Notes:\r
    1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in urban or�regional planning, engineering, physical geography, or the�physical, chemical, biological sciences and one year of experience in natural resources planning or applied environmental science for the required education.\r
    2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's�degree from an accredited college or university in natural resources planning, management, administration,�development, environmental, urban or regional planning;�resources economics or development; environmental system�management; water or land resources planning and management; environmental landscape architecture; or the physical, biological, chemical or environmental sciences for�up to three years of the required experience.\r
    3. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in the�general natural resources management and biological sciences classifications or general natural resources management and biological sciences specialty codes in the general natural resources management and biological sciences field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience and education.��\r

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience with water quality and/or habitat restoration projects�\r
    Experience writing, monitoring and/or reporting grants\r
    Comfortable with travel for site visits\r
    Ability to work independently and in a group setting�\r

    BENEFITS

    \r
    \r
    Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.\r
    Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period. This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.\r
