The Buyer role at OSJL drives the Company's profitable sales growth.

The role manages merchandising activities, develops innovative initiatives, and leverages market insights to consistently exceed net sales and gross margin targets.

This role demands a keen understanding of the dynamics of the retail landscape, allowing the Buyer role to effectively plan assortments, adapt to seasonal shifts, and make data-driven decisions to optimize product offerings for customer satisfaction and long-term profitability.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop sales and gross margin plans, and strategize merchandise assortments for optimal inventory investment returns.
Build strategic vendor relationships that deliver value to customers and drive mutual profitability.
Analyze market dynamics to build competitive advantages across product assortments.
Secure deals favorable to the company and customers, while strategically planning product placement and floor space to maximize inventory return.
Monitor product turnover and sales velocity, adjust plans to manage aging or underperforming inventory, and achieve category sales and margin targets.
Identify market trends, initiate new product development, and create private brand initiatives to increase gross margin and customer value.
Coordinate product placement and advertising with the Visual Merchandising team, and build relationships with Store Operations to execute the merchandise plan and boost sales productivity.
Communicate with the warehouse management team to optimize product flow through the distribution facility.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Retail Management, Business or a related field is preferred.
3 or more years of retail buying experience is required.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Paragon, Qlikview, Retail Ideas, and Google platform (i.e. Sites, Slides, Sheets, Drive, Docs).
Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, clean driving record and auto insurance.

Work Environment:

Works primarily in a climate controlled environment with mínimal safety and health hazard

potential.

Works in an office environment remaining stationary at a desk, table, or computer workstation for extended periods of time. Frequently uses near vision for reading and computer tasks.
Periodic travel to OSJL stores and to trade shows, which may include overnight and weekend assignments, may be required.
