- Responsible for developing engineering designs of space systems, networks, components and/or equipment items, evaluating various approaches, and estimating the necessary time and resources the design, development, and support of systems and networks.
- Develops comprehensive technical solutions and evaluations, assessing feasibility, practicability, and technical soundness for presentation to J6 review boards and panels.
- Provides cutting-edge recommendations for emerging technology, offers technical guidance to the engineering team, and conducts comprehensive research, testing, and evaluation of diverse systems.
- Prepares and reviews technical requirement documents, drawings, supporting documents, and presents conclusions and recommendations.
- Manages the development, enhancement, and integration of systems and procedures.
- Coordinates with program offices, service providers, and external DoD agencies to develop system integration plans.
- Mastery of advanced multidisciplinary engineering concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, materials, and equipment sufficient to apply experimental theories, principles, and concept to project development, execution, and advisory services.
- Extensive knowledge of advanced engineering concepts, principles, methods, and techniques to provide expert judgement concerning programs/operations; resolve unique or novel problems, conditions, or issues; and significantly alter standard practices, processes, and known techniques.
- Expert knowledge of systems engineering practices and procedures as they pertain to sustainment, modification, logistics, and production management principles, concepts, policies, and systems to execute significant projects which represent an important segment of the agencys operating program.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of planning and program management to execute significant project which represent an important segment of the agencys operating program.
- Knowledge of other engineering disciplines, technical design and development project work, and standard acquisition regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Ability to analyze data and communicate results in oral and written presentations, provide consultative, and expert advisory services, and assess the impact of new technology on current systems and processes.
- Bachelors degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics..
- At least 1 year of experience at the next lower broadband/grade level (or equivalent) in performing network system engineering duties.
- Must have or be able to obtain an Advanced level IT certification in accordance with DoDM
- 5-10 years of experience with designing space systems and/or networks.
- Knowledge of the United States Space Command Component organization and responsibilities, and its relationships with other combatant commands.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI Security Clearance.
- Must successfully pass a drug screen.
- Must sign a non-disclosure agreement.
- May be required to work irregular duty hours including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Position may be recalled to duty.
