- Assists the Director with the daily operations of the men's and women's track and field and cross-country programs at Millikin University.
- Analyze performance and instruct athletes in events and techniques in preparation for and during athletics competition.
- Assist with all phases of competitive NCAA and CCIW compliant recruiting.
- Ensure a commitment to the academic success of track student-athletes, including monitoring academic performance, attendance, and social behavior.
- Build and sustain positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, alumni, faculty, staff, and the campus community.
- Manage equipment usage.
- Serve as Lindsay Field and Track Facility Monitor.
- Serve as Athletic Facility Monitor.
- Serve as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Instructor for the Athletic Department as assigned.
- Additional job-related duties as required by the supervisor.
- Master's Degree preferred; bachelor's degree required.
- Previous Collegiate coaching experience required.
- Physical ability to complete typical coaching duties, including ability to lift and move athletic equipment.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to recruit and retain quality student-athletes.
- Proven ability to teach and implement current techniques and strategies of the sport.
- Proven ability and aptitude to manage an operating budget.
- Understanding and appreciation of NCAA Division III philosophy, rules and regulations.
- Commitment to the goals and objective of Millikin University and CCIW.
- Ability to work within and contribute to the team effort of the Millikin University Athletic Department.
- A valid driver's license is required.

SUMMARY
Assists the Director with the daily operations of the men's and women's track and field and cross-country programs at Millikin University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to succeed in a result-driven professional organization. Maintaining professional performance, demeanor, team-approach and focus on results while working under pressure in a dynamic environment. Ability to establish priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and facilitate teamwork. Highly organized, with the ability to plan, execute and multitask to meet deadlines.

WORKING CONDITIONS Typical working conditions found in most outdoor athletic scenarios. Ability to work an untraditional work schedule. Ability to travel with the team, either by vehicle or plan. Occasionally sitting at a desk or table; occasional lifting 25 lbs. or more.Constant standing; hearing and visual acuity within normal range; ability to stoop, kneel, and crouch occasionally; high degree of mobility required.
Dexterity to operate a keyboard. Outdoor exposure to all types of weather.INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Communicates effectively and appropriately. Gets along and cooperates with co-workers and appropriately interacts with others. Participates and functions as an effective member of the team.
CONFIDENTIALITY Exchanges university information with others only on a "need to know" basis.
ATTENDANCE Promptly arrives for the designated shift. Follows all applicable policies regarding schedules, attendance, and organizational requirements. May involve longer days, weekends, and off shifts as required to successfully perform job duties. Excessive absenteeism will hinder successful job performance.
SAFETY Understands and always uses safe practices. Reports all unsafe conditions to Public Safety immediately. Assures all equipment functions properly before use. Knows and adheres to all safety and fire prevention rules and regulations. Knows location and use of personal protective equipment, fire plan, SDS and Disaster Plan.
