    Federal Relations Manager

    As a member of the U.S. policy team within the Government Relations and Advocacy (GRA) department at Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), the

    Federal Relations Manager

    will play a critical role in Habitat for Humanity International's advocacy efforts by supporting the organization's federal policy priorities with Congress and the Administration.

    The federal relations manager will lead HFHI's federal appropriations strategy, build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, engage and assist the 1000+ U.S.-based Habitat affiliates with their federal advocacy efforts, represent HFHI in multiple national coalitions, and engage in direct federal advocacy efforts.

    This position is based in Washington, DC and will work in close collaboration with others within the GRA department and across HFHI.


    This position will be based at the Washington, D.C. headquarters with a hybrid work schedule, and requires 10% travel within the U.S.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Influence Federal Housing Policy

    (60%)

    Lead HFHI's federal appropriations strategy, including network mobilization, the submission of appropriations forms, development of organizational sign-on letters, and coalition leadership and support etc.

    Represent HFHI in national coalitions supporting housing, national service and non-profit issues.
    Engage in lobbying efforts with congressional offices on Habitat's appropriations priorities and other federal priorities and issues. Activities will include meetings, written communication, organizational letters, etc.
    Manage the tracking of federal policy issues and legislation that aligns with HFHI's federal agenda.
    In partnership with other members of the U.S. policy team, support engagement and relationship building at federal agencies including HUD, AmeriCorps, and others.
    Inform and Educate the Habitat Network

    (25%)

    Manage content development and distribution of monthly U.S. policy update newsletter, along with other federal messages to the Habitat network.

    Support federal policy-related aspects of Habitat on the Hill, Habitat's annual legislative conference, including content development, congressional meetings, Hill events, etc.

    Lead federal government relations and policy-related training and technical assistance to Habitat organizations, as needed.
    Mobilize Advocates

    (15%)

    Support, and at times co-lead with GRA's campaigns team, efforts to mobilize the network on Habitat's federal legislative and regulatory priorities

    (Ex:

    strategize timing, what type of action, potential targets, and language needed).
    Co-lead efforts to develop and implement grass tops advocacy activities and overarching strategy for HFHI.
    Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
    Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent combination of educations and experience.
    5-8+ years related experience.
    Demonstrated federal policy and government relations experience.
    Knowledge of federal affordable housing policy and programs and/or the federal appropriations process.
    Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
    Effective listener.
    Excellent interpersonal and relational skills.
    Ability to build collaborative relationships.
    Ability to manage personal tasks, keep deadlines, and communicate priorities effectively.
    Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
    Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

    PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (in addition to minimum):

    Previous experience with the Habitat for Humanity network or another federated network.
    Experience with legislative tracking tools, such as Bloomberg Government, etc.
    The target hiring range for this position is $77,000 - $86,000 per year. For work locations in the US, the salary range for this position is between $72,000 - $109,000 per year.

    The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate's qualifications and professional experience.
