Job Duties

  • Western State Hospital is seeking a full time Learning Center Program Specialist who will coordinate with the Learning Center (LC) Program Specialist I (PAS I) to ensure staffing coverage and to provide a safe and therapeutic milieu and communicating needs/changes as assigned; organize and complete all opening and closing duties of associated learning center; assist with client management in learning center; assist with client management in the learning center; assist with overall learning center milieu; and assume management role with supervision of Therapy Manager I, Director of Rehab Services, or Service Chiefs in the event a supervisor is not available.

The Learning Center Program Specialist will also be responsible for timely scheduling of interventions as it pertains to learning center schedule; utilization of HOPS data management system for PSR data only; provide 4 hours of group facilitation and plan interventions/activities per direction of supervisor/PAS I and/or learning center Therapy Manager I as needed; and produce written evidence and data that PSR interventions have been carried out per facility/department protocol through utilization of HOPs database.

Minimum Qualifications
- high school diploma or equivalent
- extensive work experience within the psychosocial setting
- ability to work with mental health populations
- knowledge of principles and practices of psychosocial rehabilitation (PSR) and the Recovery Model
- ability to engage and involve clients in PSR and knowledge of associated modalities as appropriate
- ability to use effective communication strategies when working with staff and clients
- intermediate computer skills for Microsoft Office Suite, HOPS, data management program, Cerner Millennium EMR, and other various databases and software programs
- competencies in various administrative tasks such as document and data input, basic budgeting and procurement procedures, scheduling, and milieu management in the PSR setting


Additional Considerations
- college courses in mental health, psychosocial rehabilitation, psychology, or related therapies
- associate's degree or higher and/or equivalent work experience
