SUMMARY Assists Cook II in preparing meals for patients, residents, staff and visitors, working from established recipes, formulas and menu cycles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Prepares dietary information for use by kitchen personnel in preparation of foods for all areas of service.

Enters patient and resident menu selections into computer system, and makes changes to diet orders, admissions, discharges, and transfers.

Answers telephone and relays information to kitchen concerning meal changes, complaints, or patient discharge.

Performs clerical duties related to the day-to-day operation of the diet office

Completes a variety of food preparation work such as pureeing, slicing and cleaning fresh produce.

Stocks Food & Nutrition products utilizing FIFO methods.

Works on patient and resident trayline.

Prepares food items according to approved recipes using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.

Completes production records.

Monitors and assures quality, seasoning and temperature.

Cleans assigned areas following established cleaning procedures and schedules.

Completes all other duties as assigned.

Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.

Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.

Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.

Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Less than high school education; or up to one month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, patients, families and other employees of the organization.
