Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) engineers ensure plant operations comply with NRC requirements in order to prevent a criticality accident.
Performs NCS analyses to define the safety basis for SNM operations.Advises production personnel on the impact of process changes and facility modifications.
Executes computer models to evaluate normal operations and process upsets with regards to NRC License limits.
Determines limits and controls to maintain operations critically safe.
Evaluates accident sequences and identifies Items Relied On For Safety to ensure a criticality is highly unlikely.
Approves operating and maintenance procedures important to the safety of operations.
Participates in audits and inspections, investigations of unusual incidents, and design reviews.
A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required. Preference given to candidates with Nuclear Engineering or Physical Science focus. Previous NCS experience preferred, especially in an NRC licensed fuel cycle facility.
Department of Energy (DOE) clearance.
