Description

The Security Officer position is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and welfare of all students, staff, and visitors in the assigned school.

The reporting of security incidents and the entering of maintenance work orders as needed into software systems.

This position will also protect agency premises, assets, and personnel and maintain a high visibility presence in order to try and prevent all illegal or inappropriate conduct.

The goal of this position is to detect, deter, observe and report all necessary activities that may cause harm to our organization.

The Security Officer will conduct all necessary fire and security drills per our licensing agreement with the local districts.

Security Officer will be responsible for coordinating, conducting, and reporting monthly fire drills, lockdowns, bomb threats, active shooter, quarantine, shelter in place and other unforeseeable circumstances that may require a holistic approach to maintaining a safe environment during an emergency.

Some reports are mandated and audited by the Office of Licensing. We must adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations as well as our HOPES CAP, Inc. Policies & Procedures.

As Security Officer you may be asked to schedule inspections, meet with contractors, and possibly oversee any construction or maintenance that may be happening with outside vendors.

You will be in charge of receiving most of the deliveries coming in and out to make sure no suspicious activity is happening.

This may require additional sanitizing with delivery personnel as well.

This position will also carry out COVID 19 related duties such as enforcing physical distancing, check in process and taking temperatures of our students, staff, and visitors, cleaning work areas more frequently than usual with approved chemicals, and enforcing PPE regulations.

The Security Officer position will also conduct regular training sessions with staff to foster best practices in securing our sites.

CCTV access and reviewing for incidents and accidents.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor degree in Criminal Justice, Police academy, Fire academy or related field such as Security Supervisor, Security Manager or Retired police officer / fire fighter.
  • Police or law enforcement experience for at least 2 years
  • Ability to speak, read, write, comprehend, process, interpret follow and carry out instructions spoken in the English language and written in a variety of documents and reference relevant to the job.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and responsible decision making skills.
  • Ability to handle and react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in performing building security and lockdown procedures.
  • Knowledge of security codes, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to detect problems and report information to appropriate personnel.
  • Sufficient verbal skills as required for effective interpersonal communication with clients and other staff.
  • Possible prolonged and irregular hours and changes in schedule
  • Oncall assignments, as needed, directed by the administration.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in support of agency and program needs and operations.
