As part of the Commercial Strategy and Innovation group within the Business Innovation (BI) organization, Pfizer's Competitive Intelligence (CI) Center of Excellence is uniquely positioned to support this goal.

- and late-stage pipeline assets across Pfizer's Business Innovation, R&D (ORD and PRD), Digital, and BioPharma organizations.


The Director, Competitive Intelligence, with a focus on Pfizer's Oncology organization, will work in close collaboration with multiple cross-functional teams and senior leaders to represent and align on a unified view of the external micro and macro business environment within or ahead of internal discussions, business planning, key processes and decision-making forums.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES- Understand and internalize CSI Oncology, Pfizer Oncology Division and corporate goals, strategies, objectives, and tactics- Analyze multiple sources of intelligence and crystalize them into well-articulated insights that are delivered across multiple platforms, including CI-initiated communications, asset-level meetings, category strategic discussions, and governance decision-making forums- Serve as a trusted thought partner to all internal stakeholders- Instruct, guide and mentor functional area-aligned CI Research and Analysis Team members on secondary research projects and topics, ensuring consistent and exceptional quality output- Participate in TA and BI/CSI decision-making forums to represent an impartial view of the external environment- In collaboration with internal stakeholders, develop and execute the annual CI plan that includes:

  • Alignment of CI targets and activities based on Pfizer prioritized assets-
  • Development and annual refresh of Key Intelligence Topics (KITs)/Key Intelligence Questions (KIQs) to support strategic and operational plans-
  • Creation and direct management of primary CI research plan that clearly defines data request, aligns with internal partner needs, identifies and selects appropriate vendor, evaluates vendor output, and communicates output to internal partner-
  • Implementation of strategic CI frameworks such as market simulations, blind spot analysis, and early-warning tools at both BU/TA and corporate levels-
  • Secondary CI research and monitoring of competitive landscape and activities-
  • Leadership of ad-hoc projects-
  • Support corporate and therapeutics area business development activities as a member of the BD-established cross-functional teams and in alignment with annual CI/BD plan
  • Ensure timely and high-quality input for all corporate CI deliverables
  • Represent the competitive environment in all portfolio prioritization and tiering analyses
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS- BA/BS degree in life sciences, business, finance, or economics- Direct experience working in a competitive intelligence, management consulting, strategic planning, or commercial development for a large pharma or related roles in Healthcare/Pharma- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills- Minimum of 8 years of experience required- Expertise in healthcare and biopharmaceuticals required- Confident, self-starter: Pioneering spirit, takes initiative; eager to challenge status quo; makes informed decisions; and operates successfully in an empowered organization- Exceptional communicator: Can readily align interpersonal style with the individual needs of their customers, can readily understand, translate and distill the complex into commentary that enables senior managers to fully comprehend key issues at hand- Relationship manager: Builds long-term, trusted relationships with individuals from all levels of a matrix organization (both in and outside of PDA) understanding individual goals and objectives to ensure future alignment; ability to gain credibility with senior leaders- Extensive collaborator: Manages projects with and through others; shares responsibility and credit; develops self and others through teamwork; helps others take appropriate risks; communicates frequently with other team members earning the respect and trust of the team- Strong project manager: Clearly articulates scope and deliverables of projects; breaks complex initiatives into detailed component parts and sequences actions appropriately; develops action plans and monitors progress independently; ability to work under pressure, to take accountability and meet deadlines- Deep analytical skills: demonstrated analytical skills, decision-making and judgment capability- Influential leader: Clearly articulates expectations, capabilities and action plans; actively listens to others' frame of reference; readily shares information with team; favorably influences people without direct authority; exhibits discretion and trustworthiness in dealing with confidential information
